Hello Everyone,
Could you suggest what I need to upgrade in order to achieve higher fraps? Currently I get about 7-8 fraps on High to Ultra High.
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.40 GHz
Ram: 3GB
Graphics Card: GeForce 8400 GS 512MB dedicated memory. And by the way I have a Dell Inspiron 530S just in case you need to look up additonal specs.
Thanks for help!

Well, the problem is you are trying to run FSX on a cheap-end (more or less) system that cannot really support it.
Core2Quad or better is best for running High or Ultra High, with 4GB or more ram (dependant on your MOBO as to how high you can go of course), as well as a higher end graphics with like a GTS 250 or so; only THEN can you really smoothly run FSX on Ultra High or High Settings smoothly.
Biggest upgrade for FSX is your CPU, with graphics shortly there behind. Your RAM should be fine, but I'd upgrade either your CPU, GPU, or both.

Without hardware upgrades you're going to have to pull down the settings. High to ultra high is something that you would assign to a Core i7...

Keeny, be advised as well that when you record in FRAPS, the original recorded file before you edit it, can be massive. I have some 30 second clips that are upwards of several hundred MB. I have had some 1GB clips as well...so if you don't have space/or even if you do, and you go to import these beasts into a simple edit program like WMM, it can go realllll sloooowwww!

Well Andrew, can you suggest settings for fsx in every category? Today while I was flying my simulator, it just crashed and a "fatal error" message appeared on the screen when it crashed.
And is it possible for my computer to achieve at least 20-30 fraps for fsx?

Yes. That is what I used. It's extremely helpful! It will take you a few hours to do, but it will definitely help!

Okay. One more question. Currently I'm in the settings menu for fsx, and I was wondering if click "Reset Defaults" will fsx determine the correct settings based on my system?
