Hi, I am using the fleet installer 757 for fsx and I can't get it to autoland. I read the panel manual, so I know what to do, but I can't click the autopilot master 2 switch. It doesn't work. I have never used auto land before because I don't find it as satisfying but as my next leg is to PANC, I need to know in case I need to perform a CATII landing. (I here the weather there hasn't been too great lately, that is why I am concerned). Thank you so much for the help!

Well you can't actually autoland the fleet 757. It will follow the glideslope down, but it won't flare.

The panel manual said it would flare, cut throttles and everything, but if you say it can't I believe it. That isn't my problem though. I can't even get it to follow the glide slope because I can't click the autopilot master two.

Have you reinstalled it? I just tried it out. It cuts the throttles, but doesn't flare.

"Autoland" on the fleet 757 will very happily fly into the ground at -700fpm. No flare.
Come to think of it, I've done worse trying to land manually

Okay I'll watch it. Got the master switch working. I didn't do anything though. I just bumped it by mistake and it turned on. Works great now.

I started flying the 757 (with Delta) 5 months ago. I have never used the Autoland because it doesn't work. I asked Andy about it and was told that there is no Autoland feature on the 757.

I HAVE been able to autoland in the fleet 757, but not without a suspension of belief...
First, CMD-A and CMD-B must be engaged for at least 10 seconds to sync the computers and prior to capturing the glideslope. This much is realistic. You MUST have GREEN Autoland 2 or Autoland 3 indications to know the AL mode is fully active and synced. An orange indication is a degraded mode indicating that the computers on either channels have not had time to reach agreement. Another cause for degraded mode is not having been stabilized on the LOC/GS before reaching 1500' AGL. If CMD-B is not engaged above 1500' then your in for a standard ILS approach.
However, for some reason the throttle chop and flare occur very late in the landing sequence leading to a hard landing/crash. In playing around with it, I found that if you adjust the DH (Decision Height) to 500-600 feet above the actual DH, then the flare and throttle cut should occur on cue. It's kind of hit-or-miss and kind of scary to see a throttle reduction at 200' actual AGL but an "acceptable" landing can follow, just not with any predictability. Give it a try (offline) and see how it works for you.

Hey, tried the autoland offline today, with DH set at 100 AGL. Perfect. No problem. Beautiful flare and throttle cut right on time. Descent rate was 200 ft./min. Good to know for the CATIII's this winter!!! (BTW, I am using FSX, don't know if you are using FS9 or not)
