Though I have FSX Gold, all of my addons are for FS9 so, thank you all the same, I am not interested in moving from FS9. This summer I upped my proc and RAM in an attempt to max out the FPS with all graphics sliders to the far right and traffic @ 100%. I realize that everything beyond 25-30FPS is "wasted", however, I still get <20FPS whenever I fly out of LAX, JFK, MEM, ATL, ORD, etc. with traffic @ 70%. Currently, I'm getting splash and scatter effects from the external camera view that leads me to believe that my GPU is on it's way out. I'm partial to the nVidia cards and will still have to do the Cost/Benefit analysis between buying two older cards for SLI or a new card altogether. So the question for the experts is what is a better upgrade path: Run 2 8800GTX on SLI or go for a card with DD3 or better RAM with >448bit interface? I'd prefer to keep the costs below $350-ish. Thanks for your suggestions.
Merry Christmas!!

Let me first start by saying DO NOT RUN TWO SLI CARDS the only thing that will do is waste your money. It has absolutely NO benefit whatsoever for flightsim. Now, if you haven't dried nHancer, I recommend you do so and follow the steps on this - http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041 - thread. That's supposed to help improve image quality, FPS, and fix the little shimmers and other breaks in the scenery.
Now, looking at your MOBO specs, it has slots for PCI Express x16, PCI Express x1, and PCI. With those interfaces you're limited to only the Nvidia 7, 8, and 9 series. You do not want ATI for flightsim. So that also restricts you to a maximum of DDR2. With that in mind, I recommend this card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162022 - It's the most Cost/Benefit you will get with those interfaces. Especially since it's the 1GB version, that's what FS craves is the VRAM.
You may also want to look into overclocking your processor to see even more increased performance.
