Well, I have had this problem from day one, but it never really bothered me. Whenever I run FS9 (Vatsim or not) the rest of my computer has no sound. When I say this, I mean no sound to: youtube videos, DVD's, ACARS messages, etc. It happens roughly 99.8% of the time (didn't happen yesterday for some reason). Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas?
System information:
Windows 7 64-bit
FS9
Realtek High Definition Audio sound card.

or you might have sound card driver issues, did Win 7 come with the computer? or did you install it?

When I installed W7 on my machine, the only problem driver was my sound card. You should be able to find the latest drivers on the Realtek site. If not, you might try the freeware Driver Detective (kind of hit or miss).

I looked at the sound mixers and, for example when I play a youtube video, I see they are responding to the video (little green bar goes up and down in accordance with the music), but nothing comes out of the speakers.
I did indeed upgrade, but I used the HP W7 upgrade CD which said all of my sound drivers were up to date, but I suppose I should try upgrading them. Although, I did install the latest updates around September, right before I updated to W7.

I had the same problem. 1st I found that FS was going through a generic sound driver. I went to my sound setup and made sure that it was set to the proper drivers. Then I went into FS and selected the same drivers that were in my sounds setting. Finally I made sure that my sound device was set to digital as I have digital speakers attached to my new toy. ;-)

When you say you went into FS and selected the same drivers, how did you do this? That is about the only thing I am unsure on as when FS is not open, sound plays just fine; it is just when FS is open, so I assume FS9 is the culprit.
