I don't have any Internet on my flight simulation computer. I installed a UPS power supply yesterday, and now I do not have any Internet on my flight simulation computer. Anyone know what the problem might be?

I don't know why you replaced your power supply, but if your other one was faulty it could have hit your NIC card.

What's a NIC card? I put in an uninterruptable power supply yesterday.

Network Interface Controller basically allowed you to connect to a network, and in most cases, that's the internet. It's a physical card in your computer and can possibly fail if the other PSU was faulty it might have sent bad power to the card. I've had that happen twice before I realized it was my PSU.

My apologies! If you get remove the UPS and revert to the old one, will it work? I don't remember if the NIC card needs it's own power connector, if it does, make sure it didn't come off or something.

I had a backup wireless adapter and used that, and finally it started to work. I'm back in business.

How far are you from your modem? Wireless internet is known to be very unstable when you are far from the point of entry for the hardwire. I'd suggest getting a new hardwire NIC Card.

Brittany I agree, revert to your original system set up w/o the UPS and see if that works. The NIC card is most likely to blame in this case, because assuming you are inside your home I cant imagine you being that far away from the access point on the wireless.

Brittany,
You mentioned that this connectivity issue only started happening once you installed the UPS right? I'm assuming that there is some type of port on the UPS for "network surge" protection (they used to have it for modems as well). Where you have a network cable from the computer to the "protected" network port on the UPS, then from the UPS to your router/switch (for hardwired connections).
If this is the case, then simply bypass the UPS network "protection" altogether and plug the network cable directly into the back of your machine.
ALSO, go to Radio Shack and get an "Outlet Tester" and check both the outlets powering your UPS and the one powering your switch/router. I had an outlet with switched common/hot wires on the outlet that was powering my computer many years ago and it managed to fry a port on my gigabit switch
Another thing to consider is that you may have damaged one of the connectors on the hardwired cable during the installation, try a different Ethernet cable and see if that fixes the problem.
Good luck with your problem!
