I am at wits end. FSX keeps having "unknown" fatal errors, ACARS reports somthing totally different than what FSX shows, and VATSIM freezes up my screen every time I turn it on. I have to ctrl, alt, del to see the VATSIM cnrtl panel and force it to initialize. I am getting 5 green and 1 red light but it is making FSX angry. These are the same problems I had with the old computer (XP, FSX, 3.0 Ghz CPU, and 4 gig of ram). Here I am $3,000.00 poorer and the stuff still does not work. Is it possible that some of the pre-loaded software from HP is causing problems? Please don't say that I should wipe the drive and start fresh because all that HP sent was the computer and a Win 7 license. No CD's at all. I'm willing to pay for a phone call or allow access to the computer. I have run out of excuses to my significant other. (and she wanted new doors for the house)

Make sure you've installed everything as an administrator and make sure you're absolutely running EVERYTHING as an administrator (you're basically running Vista7 at this point). Also be sure to turn off UAC. Also, go to start>all programs>FSFDT>right click FSInn UI and run as an administrator, only do this once though, you never have to do it again. If any form of Norton Anti-Virus came with the PC, get rid of it now too.

I have done all of this. You were the one that helped me get VATSIM to run Nick and I appericiate that a lot. But the three software packages will not run together even though I turned admin on for every execuitable that I found.

The only difference is that I use Vista 64-bit and they all work in conjunction. I don't know why it isn't happening for you? Did you have Vista on your new computer before getting Windows 7? If so, did you update or do a clean install?

The PC came pre-installed with Windows 7, and a few other software packages. To the best of my knowledge it never has had Windows Vista. It was ordered this way straight from HP.

I'm at a loss. I've talked to maybe 1/10th of folks I normally do with W7 regarding ACARS, FSInn, SB, FS9 and FSX...and the majority of them either did a complete upgrade, or from scratch install. There's gotta be something in there that's wreaking havoc with your system.
HP does have a lot of gunk on there, but that shouldn't affect all your programs. Have you tried running everything related to Flight Sim in XP Compatibility mode?

Andy, I was told that I shouldn't do that. As long as I ran in Admin mode it would be fine. But it's not. Is anyone at Delta running Windows 7, FS 10, acars, and Vatsim together and without error? I heard from quite a few that aren't today and helped 1 to just run FSX under windows 7. I had a flight report that I crashed after my screen blacked out, came on with flight controls locked and I didn't even send the report. As long as I don't go near Vatsim I am just fine. There are others out there who have the same problems.

I am running W7-64, FSX SP2, ACARS and FSINN together without any problems at this time, but it wasn't always so. With trial and error, I narrowed my problem down to FSINN. Basically I uninstalled ACARS and FSINN, started up the default FSX flight (the stupid one with the ultralight sitting on some grass field) in XP compatibility mode and run as an administrator and flew around without a problem. Loaded up the DVA MD88 freeware and flew a short flight (KATL to KBNA) no problem. Backed off the XP compatibility mode and reflew the flight with no problem, but left it as an Admin.
Now I reinstalled ACARS....but beforehand, I went to the FSUIPC site and manually downloaded and installed the latest version (i.e. I didn't let the ACARS installer do the work). I then ran the ACARS installer as admin, making sure that both FSUIPC boxes were unchecked. Successfully reflew that KATL-KBNA flight, running ACARS as an Admin using the MD88.
Got tired of running everything as an Admin, and turned off that doggone UAC.
EDIT: btw, I have since loaded up the PMDG 747, nHancer, and WOAI without a problem.
Installed FSINN for FSX (1.7/1.3 versions) and successfully reflew the flight.
Finally, I did some flying around with various payware (Super 80, LDS 767) without a problem. Loaded up my add-ons (UTX, GEX, REX) without an issue.
To make a long boring story a bit longer, note that I did not do any futzing with config settings or mess around with the registry. I think that my success was due to a) uninstalling everything except FSX, b) turning off UAC and c) manually installing FSUIPC directly from the site (didn't pay for it just did the free install). I don't know if it was my brilliant scientific approach or dumb luck, but the problems may have had their root in my original installs of ACARS and FSINN because I did not run the installs as an Admin. If you turn off UAC up front, you might be OK.
Good luck.

btw it took me a good 3-5 days of messing about (and inventing new curse words) to get it working.
