Ok guys,
it's time to pick your brains.
I need advice on what is the best combination of addons for weather and environment textures for fs9.
REX for FS9 has recently been released, and I am thinking of getting it, but I have heard that the weather engine isnt too good and that Activesky is better.
My friend has Activesky6.5 and has just got ground enviroment pro as activesky can tell GE Pro which testures to load based on the weather.
I'm trying to formulate the ideal list of addons to get the best look that all work nicely together without too much hastle.
I've read that ActiveSky Advanced had been designed to be the most flexible with other addons.
Has anyone got any experience with ASA with REX (for FS9) maybe even ultimate terrain and GE pro.
Maybe someone in the know could tell me what the best comibinations are and how to get them to work together.
Thanks
Dave

I currently use REX for FSX, and the weather engine seems nice -- however I don't have much experience with ASX. Active Sky 6.5 was nice as it gave winds aloft data that I could enter into my FMC -- REX seems to be lacking a way to do this EASILY (Import doesn't grab all the waypoints). REX also updates based on DISTANCE, rather than TIME, which I find slightly frustrating.
The textures REX provides are fantastic. I'd say if you can afford it, go REX + Active Sky, as the graphics/textures REX has warrants the use.

For FS9: AS 6.5, REX, UT, GE. That is simple the best combination. Active Sky is the best for weather gen, REX is the best for graphics, and ultimate terrain and ground environment pro work together to produce a stunning ground. I can literally pick out my house in FSX with UTX and GEX.

I have UTX and GEX -- it's scary how good it looks.

@Nicholas
Is AS6.5 able to "tell" REX which textures to load to get the clouds, sky etc to match the weather conditions?

Dave, 6.5 is also compatible with FSX - so you don't really have to buy ASX

Yeah,
I think I will get REX2 for FS9 as it is only £22, it is the cheapest of the addons mentioned and the screenshots I have seen look amazing.
I'm just a bit unsure about the quality of the weather engine, I think the weather update should be time based not distance based.

That's why I suggested using AS 6.5 along with it. It's an unbeatable combo.
