Does anyone know how I could enable HDMI sound from my GTS 250?
I am in need of it for my senior project.

Connect a S/PDIF cable that came with either your mobo or video card from the S/PDIF header on your mobo to the S/PDIF header on your video card. If you still can't get it to work, it is because you are using an adapter (DVI>HDMI) and your card doesn't send audio over DVI. (most likely the problem)

Hmm I was able to send audio from my HD 4870 before even with an adapter.
I also connected the S/PDIF cable correctly.
Nothing in the sound controls permits me to enable the sound. I have sound enabled in the NVIDIA control panel though.

Check to see that the HDMI device is set as the default sound device.

There is no sound device for it that's the thing. When I go into the sound options I don't see it there and I have checked "Show Disabled Devices/Disconnected".

Are you sure the Nvidia sound card can output sound through the HDMI?

On the control panel audio option select SPEAKERS (creative SB_XFI)
On the creative consul launcher , Encouder Settings, Select Dolby Digital. Click Settings and Select SPDIF.
Thats what I found, what OS are you using and what sound card are you using
