Well, I went and did it....
I took the money I had saved for the Airsimmer A320 Advanced and bought REX for FS9 and Active Sky Advanced.
After reading the manuals and trawling the internet I am still a little clueless as to which REX texture to assign where.
I found a thread which advises which REX themes to assign to each of the ASA snapshots categories, the problem however is that the theme names are for REX1 and they have changed the names between V1 and the FS9 version.
The Thread advises:
ASA Universal = REX "Fair Weather" or "Dry and Windy"
ASA Clear = REX "Fair Weather"
ASA Stormy = REX "Cold Front Approaches"
ASA IMC = REX "Foggy"
ASA Snow= REX "Winter Storm"
ASA Rain = REX "Warm Front Approaches"
ASA Overcast = REX Warm Front Approaches" or "Foggy"
but the REX themes I have are:
ARCTIC CHILL
DREAMTIME
HIGH ALTITUDE BLUES
PRISTINE TROPICS
REALITY
STORMY WEATHER
TURBULENCE
VFR SERENITY
WINTER FEELINGS
WONDEROUS
I can guess the Stormy weather will suit the ASA stormy, winter feelings or artic chill may be best for ASA snow, but the rest aren't too obvious and the pictures on the REX sscreen look identical for a few of the themes so I am unsure which to apply where.
If anyone has any insight as to which REX FS9 theme is equivalent to the REX1 themes I can get started and look at then tweaking the themes myself and creating some custom themes.
I have posted on the REX forums but they dont seem keen to answer (maybe because I am using ASA for weather) and I have posted on HiFi, but havent had any luck there either.
Any advice would be appreciated...

My best advice to you is to let ASA handle the weather. If the only thing you do with REX is install the textures you want and run ASA nothing will happen badly. ASA will assign the REX textures to the current weather it's displaying. No need to mess with the REX weather theme at all.

I want to let ASA assign the REX textures from the ASA snapshots, the problems is I'm not sure which REX theme to assign to the ASA snapshot profiles.
In their infinite wisdom they have changed the names of the themes between REX v1 and REX v2/REX FS9 so the info I found on another forum is defunct as it is relating to the REX v1 theme names.

ASA will assign the REX textures, you don't have to set anything in REX besides install the theme you want.

I know....
I am asking which REX themes to install, once installed I take a snapshot in ASA e.g for IMC conditions.
Then go back to REX and install another theme for stormy weather (for example) then take a snapshot in ASA and assign it to stormy weather.
Rinse and repeat for all the snapshot categories in ASA:
Universal, Clear, Stormy, IMC, Snow, Rain, Overcast
So when ASA creates the weather is selects and installs the appropriate REX themes based on the snapshots I created.
I havent a clue which textures or themes best suite the differnet ASA snapshot categories, hence the question.

I see what you're saying! I was thrown off when you said REX themes because I usually go through and create my own, never look at the themes. If I were you, I'd personally go through and set up your desired theme by yourself and get it as close as you can by yourself.

the problem is i havent a clue as to what to pick for each of the different weather categories in ASA....
I'd probably pick clouds which didnt work in the given scenario.
All i really need is finding the info that says REX1 theme X is called Y in REX(FS9), then i will know what I should be looking at to create my own later.
