I'm running WIN7 Pro x64 with FSX and Acceleration installed with numerous other FS addons to include Wilco, PMDG, Flight1, CS and Level-D. FSX worked just great until . . . I wanted to get 757 rated.
My checkride states that I have to use the DVA 757 installer in order to get rated. I backed up my PC (thank goodness) before I installed the 757 package. Mind you, this is the first DVA package I've installed with this new build-out on my PC running WIN7. No issues were noted with/during the install (FSUIPC already updated to v4.57). I started FSX and it went through the process of adding the gauges. I selected one of the new 757 installs and well, things just went downhill from there. First FSX crashed. I restarted again, selected another 757 and as it was loading, my PC crashed. Needless to say, this was not very good. After several more attempts with each one crashing, I was really and I do mean really fed up. I went ahead and restored my PC back to original state before the 757 install and all is fine now.
My question: Has anyone else experienced these kind of issue(s) with the current aircraft installers and WIN7 and of course would care to elaborate?
I know WIN7 and FSX have had some quirks but I can honestly say, my setup was/is working just great.
I realize everyone runs very different hardware, video, memory setups compared to mine and it may be hard to find the root cause of the issue(s) I experienced.
I prefer or care not to go through this again if it can be helped.
