I just need to know where to start this will be my first build. Can someone give me some specs of a computer that will effectively run FS and is reasonably priced.

Well I would start with newegg.com to purchase your goods unless you have chosen a local retailer that you would like. There are some different options to choose from such as Intel, AMD and Nvidia, ATI in regards to some of the main components. What is reasonably priced to you, does this computer need to also come with a monitor or do you have one already?

Devin, same idea as Tom:
ARe you wanting a motitor, keyboard, speakers, etc with this setup?
Also, toss me a budget and I'll give you a general idea of where to start. There are SOO many options, so it really depends.
I am personally a NVIDIA/INTEL fan, but my newest build I am trying the ATI Radeon 5870 graphics card -- so anything from me will be semi-biased in regards to using Intel
If you can give a price range, most people should be able to help you further
Keep in mind a basic setup from newegg should consist of:
Motherboard
CPU
GPU
Hard Drive
CD/DVD Burner (x2?)
CPU cooler
PSU
RAM
Case
Operating System
Reasonably priced is a bit hard to work with ^_^ For FSX, I'd try to give yourself some headroom around $1500-$2000 for a top-quality system consisting of an Intel i7 920, GTC285 2GB/ATI 5870, and some other core features. If you are aiming for cheaper, I can also throw together a decent machine based on your price range. Let me know what you are wanting to work with money wise and I'll see what I cannot throw together for ya

Your price range is pretty good. I won't be needing speakers anda monitor. But I will probably by a mouse and keyboard combo. My only question is with ATI cards how do you get AA to work?

Just throwing in a personal opinion here, I'd stay away from the i7. I built an i5 system recently that ran FS great. The LGA1156 socket is alot newer than the 1366 socket, and is now considered "main stream", at a lower price. Also, the only difference between the i7 and i5 is hyperthreading, which FS doesn't use. If I were you, I'd go with an i5 build, with a slight overclock, using Corsair liquid cooling. The i5 has shown it can run alot faster than the i7 when overclocked.

Devin,
I went with the SDDR3 2000, not the 1600 -- but everyone debates over both. That or the 2000 should work

I think I might buy this kit but I would get a velociraptor hardrive. Is this good? I don't know much about ATI so do these cards work well it has 2 cards so.

I'd personally go with an ATI 5870 as they are newer -- and FSX can only utilize one graphics card anyways.

A second graphics card only really matters if you plan to have multiple monitors -- and anyways i'd still get the 5870 if you have two or three monitors because then you can run it in Eyefinity ^_^
