No, the Mobo only supports PCI, PCI Express, and PCI Express x16. The GTX 260 is a PCI Express 2.0 x16 and it won't fit. The best upgrade you could do is up to an Nvidia 9500GT 1GB.

Not only that, but the CPU (P4 I'm guessing) would bottleneck the GTX 260. So it would be wise to upgrade to a Gefore 9500GT or start from scratch and get a new mobo/cpu/memory with a gtx 260.

My system is close to yours and I also run a Dell 8400. My current video card is the PNY XLR8 NVIDIA 8800GT PCI-e 512mb PCI Express 2.0 which I upgraded to after my OEM NVIDIA 6800 256mb GTO card died. I am more than satisfied with the 8800GT card and has more than enough power. Also, a PCI Express 2.0 x16 card will fit in the slot but your system will not take advantage of the 2.0 firmware upgrade. Lastly, the stock power supply in the 8400 is only 350w unless upgraded (which I would not recommend) and will not support the NVIDIA 260 which requires 500w minimum.

Get the 9500GT, it only requires 250W power supply. I've been running a 9500GT on my old system for over a month with a 300W power supply and it works fine. Make sure it's the 1GB version though.
