Hi guys, this may be kinda a ramble of questions but bare with me.
I was thinking of getting a new video card for my computer (my current video card is a 128mb, yikes) and I was hoping to update it to a newer video card. Does anyone have any recomendations of really good video cards that work well with FSX or FS2004. I would like something that would bump up my FPS and make my FS look MUCH BETTER than it is now. The most I would really be willing to spend it $200. Any help would be great. Thanks
(I was looking at this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/eVGA-GeForce-8800GTX-8800-GTX-768MB-DDR3-PCI-E-Card_W0QQitemZ320493318730QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Video_TV_Cards?hash=item4a9ee3f24a What do you think?

8800GTX? Your kidding me? That is soooo 2006.
You are much better off with this:
9800GTX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339&cm_re=9800-_-14-130-339-_-Product
or this:
GTX 260
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130433
Don't forget you also need a decent CPU otherwise a fast GPU would be useless for FS.

I really don't know. What frame rate are you getting on the average? For comparison, I have a GTX 260 and an athlon x2 3800+ at 2.70ghz running at 7 fps new york; 23 fps cruise FL350 using a PMDG MD-11. I heard if i just upgrade to a quad intel i7 I can double my frame rate.

An increase in you FPS is going to depend also on your CPU. You may be getting a great GPU but if you CPU can't keep up then a good GPU won't do much.

Yeah but if you have a bad GPU then your going to hurt too. I cannot play FS2004 on my laptop that I bought 4 months ago because of that no good Intel GMA 4500!
Also, could you tell me what video card do you have along with your FPS avg? I thought a Phenom would be acceptable for FSX.

My current video card is:
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
I get around 5-10 FPS on approach with Captain Sim 757 (onle about 3-7 coming into KJFK or KLAX) flying online.
I get about 15 FPS at cruise with same aircraft.
Also, I was watching this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQOiS4tmPhc )..... What do you think?

So here is just to sum up all my current specs in one:
2.21 GHZ AMD Phenom(tm) 9500 Quad-Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
So what would be the best replacement for the Video Card?

Yes!! You definitely definitely need a new video card.
I Suggest the following,
The
NVIDIA -
GTX 260
9800 GTX
GTS 250
or you can go with ATI if you want. The 5750 is pretty good.
If you could, you should get at least 4GB of ram too (if haven't done so)

Not really, but you'll do better then me. Your system will SCREAM if you have an Intel i7.
Here is a great example; compare that to the 10fps i get with my pc using the same settings, area everything.

seriously i'll sell my soul for that computer there.

So let's say I do get a pretty good video card (much better than what I have now) and use FS2004 with REX, addon scenery for airport, and CS757. Will I be seeing more than my 5-10 FPS at major airports and will it make FS2004 look better?

FS2004? Wow I thought you meant FSX~!
Anyway I really don't know now. I get around 15-28 FPS landing at JFK with REX (FS9) SSTSIM concorde and AS6.5, never tried CS757 but I heard its a frame rate hog even with FS9! I also get around 10fps at a high altitude due to clouds. Don't know why and how but the sluttering was wayyy worse then FSX.
But as I tried FS9 on my piece of junk laptop, it's safe to say that you will get better framerates if you upgrade your video card to a 9800GTX for example even though its kinda of a overkill.

Ok. Now here is all the specs I have. From what you're saying I believe I should upgrade the processor as well (but I don't really have the money now).
Windows Vista 64 bit
600GB Hardrive
Memory(RAM): 6.00 GB
2.21 GHZ AMD Phenom(tm) 9500 Quad-Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
If anyone else could give me some help I would really appreciate it. Thanks Brandon for the help. The big question I have is what should I upgrade and what would the results be (FPS, how it looks etc.). What would it be like if I just upgraded the video card?
