An idea for future enhancemend of DVA. We could put together a show team. The way I invision it is to put together a team to represent each aircraft in our fleet to perform before online events as such. Best pilots from each program would be selected to do some training together. Than at the time of online event they would perform some close formation flyby of departure airport along with maybe some turns. Whole thing should be coordinated with ATC, but it would sure be a sight to see, plus a bonus, goal and reward for excellence in day-to-day flight operations.

I was wondering if there were such events online the other day. Such a great idea! Even those unable to participate would be able to watch as observers

Would be a complete mess on VATSIM. We strive for realism and this just sounds like something that should be done on FSX multiplayer. just my opinion

This idea keeps coming up from time to time and really (pardon the pun) never gets off the ground. If my memory still works correctly, I believe it has been stated in the past that this is something outside of what the mission is of DVA.

Well, it is a good idea, but not the kinds of thing that would (lolz at another pun) fly here. Too bad you're not at in the Air Force. These are the kind of ideas that colonels love to make people stay late for!

And as an ATC controller, with expected traffic levels to be high at the departure field, I would have to deny you clearance to perform such an action as it would clog the airspace and make my job far too complicated Sorry to burst your bubble.

An online air show is not in Delta Virtual Airlines' business definition. DVA attempts to emulate Delta Air Lines' real world retail operations. I can assure all that Delta Air Lines does not put on air shows, particularly at the world's busiest airports.
As other staff members point out, the concept was rejected multiple times in the past. Our position remains unchanged. DVA does not participate in virtual air shows nor will we sanction one.
The solution for those who wish to create an air show is to create a private multiplayer session in FSX.
Regards,
Terry

However at one airshow Delta did have a static breast cancer 757 on display as a walkthrough ;).

The idea of airshows with observers has been brought up before in the VATSIM forums, but per the CoC, it would never work. Not to mention the fact that you would have to do flyby's with a high traffic setting which would be instantly squelched by ATC. As Terry said, that's just not what we do as we try to emulate RW Delta. I've got to admit though, if you had never seen this discussed before, it does sound like a good idea at first.

You can sit on the tarmac and pretend to have virtual spectators walk through while I take off on my way to Hong Kong with full ATC services.

I don't think he was meaning a Aerobatic show, but more (still guessing) just have a few guys Form up into a flight, like a Dub V formation, quickly take a few shots and brake formation (Pealing off in an Orderly way) and just carring on as normal.
And doing it in an Event wouldn't be best, a quiet spot without large amounts off Traffic.
And yes airlines do do the odd formation flight, for showing off there new aircraft ( i watched a flight of two 747-800's do some formation stuff.)
But i see all your guys point. But you got to admit seeing a large flight of 744's, 752's or 763's not to name a few would look cool.

I didn't mean aerobatics, just simple flyby of some aircraft over airport, and MAYBE a coordinated turn - that's it. And not during but BEFORE an event and ATC would be notified beforehand. Just an idea I put up for discussion (isn't that what water cooler is for?), but if you think differently it's ok with me.
