As you may have experienced, adding a new scenery entry to FS04 and FSX in Windows 7 is unintuituve.
When I navigated to the newly created folder from the Add Scenery button, clicking OK merely took me to
the next subfolder. I finally found the solution at www.blueprintsimulations.com to whom I am eternally grateful.
Solution:
How do I add the scenery to the FS2004 or FSX library in Windows 7?
In most cases, the procedure for adding BluePrint sceneries to the simulator's library in Windows 7 remains unchanged.
If you experience no issues during the procedure simply disregard the modified procedure listed below.
In some cases, however, the final step of the procedure does not work the same way that it does in Windows XP and Windows Vista. Clicking OK after selecting the folder containing the scenery files fails to add the new area to the library. The folder containing the scenery opens instead. Clicking OK after that has no effect at all.
The solution, while unusual, is very simple and consists of adding one step at the end of the procedure as explained below.
- Install the scenery
- Launch the simulator and access the scenery library
- Select "Add Area"
- Find the folder that you installed the scenery into
- Select the desired scenery by clicking on it ONCE
- Select OK
(Please note that up to this point the procedure remains unchanged.
- Finally, RIGHT-CLICK on the EMPTY area just below the list of subfolders (Scenery, and Texture). The window closes and the new area appears at the top of the scenery list as usual.
Thought this might be useful to some folks
