Okay, so I have a SONY VAIO ( VGN-FW510F ) laptop if anyone is familiar with these, I could use some help. I was looking at upgrading to a better graphics card, however I have never done this before so I am not 100% sure that the one I have picked out would even work.

thats a link to the card I am looking at purchasing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just make sure the card will fit in your laptop, I know that heat will be an enormous issue when putting high power components in such a tight space. I would say a cooling pad is going to be a must have.

Already have a cooling pad but you are right... I might need another cooling source like another internal fan thats stronger or something. not sure to be honest.

I have a VAIO as well and already upgraded the RAM but I didn't think you could update the graphics card since it doesn't even really have one. Though mines about a year and a half old maybe newer ones do.
Let me know if it works because i'd love some me some better graphix too

You just can't put a video card into a laptop. It's not like a desktop where you can just slap it on and expect it to run. The only laptop I know that lets you upgrade your graphics card is one of those 1.5 grand alienwares (high high end notebooks).
Otherwise the only other way to upgrade you laptop's video card is to buy a new laptop - which is why i hate them and have no respect for them.

laptops don't use the same type of video cards that desktops use. the only things that are upgradable in a laptop are the hard drive and ram. thats it.

Well I learned something new today fella's. Thanks for the input. I think when I come back from iraq I'll try and put together a good gaming desktop. Maybe I should switch to fs9 for my laptop lol I'm tired of fsx crashing all the time

LOL .... 1.5K is cheap for a "high-end" laptop
