Hi there. I've been having problems with VRC where I can't here I pilot speak unless I talk to him first. I searched around and I found the solution here. http://www.metacraft.com/VRC/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3859&sid=aa7f1aa5ec239519b4a329c077bbe7ca
My question is how do I change the UDP time out limit? I tried creating an exception for the UPnP in the firewall but that didn't work. I am using Windows XP SP2. I'm a novice at computer stuff so please explain in detail how to change the timeout. Thanks.

Look around in the router settings, it's definitely there on mine.

Open up the Command Prompt and type "ipconfig" without the quotes.
There you will see a bunch of numbers come up, look for "Default Gateway"
Take that address and type that into your address bar in your internet browser. That should open the router settings. Usually they have a username and password. The most common ones are found at this site http://www.routerpasswords.com/
In there you can just browse the menus and find the settings.

Ok, I got to the router settings, but I don't find the UDP. Would it be advertisement period or advertisement time to live in the UPnP settings?

No it wouldn't be there. It should be in there somewhere, if not, you can try forwarding the suggested ports for VRC. That should do it too.

Sorry for my naiveness, but UDP definitely isn't in there so how do I forward the suggested ports for VRC?

In those router settings should be a section for port forwarding as well. http://portforward.com/

I'll be trying to forward them tonight. I'll let you know if everything works within the next couple of days. Thanks for all of the help so far.

I forwarded the necessary ports through the router and I had no issues with receiving pilot transmissions. Thanks so much for your help Nicholas.
