Hey guys,
I was planning to fly my first event and noticed the note about using the company voice channel if no ATC is available. I currently use FSINN...can someone tell me what I need to do to 1) set the channel up, and 2) use it?
Also, how is this channel typically used? It is a free-for-all chat room type voice channel or strictly for in-flight comms? Thanks!

You must go into the ADVANCED tab at the bottom of the control panel, and bring up the VVL tab. That is your FSInn radio control panel. You type RW.liveatc.net/DAL in the open area.
Go here:
http://vacc.fi/downloads/software/fsinn/FSInn_1_2_EN.PDF
Read - although it is the older version - it still has valuable information
If you are completely bamboozled, drop me an email, I'd be glad to link up with you and help you out with anything FS/FSInn related.

Jeffrey,
To be clear, you would normally use the Unicom frequency 122.8 to self-announce your intentions when no ATC is available. The company frequency just allows us DVA pilots to talk plane-to-plane without interfering with other (non-company) traffic on an ATC frequency.
It's handy with very light traffic but, when ATC IS online and company pilots are also talking, they tend to step on each other and make both unreadable. Speaking for myself, I have to leave the private frequency when dealing with ATC to make sure I can hear everything they say.

Also, at least using fsinn... to avoid the talk-over when using the company channel and atc at the same time, the little speaker icons in fsinn will mute particular channels temporarily to allow you to talk to atc without hearing company traffic at the same time, as well as clicking the little boxes in the vvl panel. i cant remember what each box does but you can experiment with it.

If you hold the curser over the little boxes, one will say priority channel. If ATC is on, make sure that the priority is set to the COM1 freq instead of the company voice channel. This will allow ATC to not get cut off if someone is talking on the company voice channel.

What about pilots using SB, how do we tune into Company Frequency to chat with other pilots when no ATC online. I undestand about the unicom 122.8 but is company frequency different?

on Squackbox its not possible to make an Company Channel, but on the 767 Group flight, we made a "Privat Choice Chat" so we could also talk to eatch other.
