Hey guys, lately my anti-virus has been giving me some faring harsh stuff. It started a few days ago i've picked up a Trojan horse somehow has goten into my systeam.
Now AVG managed to put this in the "virus vault" and i've sniced removed this but now when i log into my side of the computer AVG pops saying it's picked up another Trojan horse and sometimes my normal AVG scans picks it up as well i've been removing them one by one but they keep coming, why is this? i don't have any screen shots at the moment and have no idea what my computer specs are either, all i know is the name; NEC Versa A2100. Untouched (with like Cards etc)
Thanks!

I would advice, try a "good" virusscanner. At my humble opinion is AVG not one of them. Mayby it's an newer type horse wich AVG doesn't recognize because free scanners normally use older virusdefinitions.

Good free scanners have current data just like any other scanner, too.
Google for hijackthis and see whether you can find the trojan horse this way (use auto feedback for that). If you could identify the beast, google for it and see how you can remove it.
Also a try worth is downloading new/alternate anti-virus software, disconnecting from internet, deinstalling your current and installing the other.
The point behinds trojans, viruses, malware is that people want to control your computer. If it was easy to remove, it wouldn't use that much, would it?
Just coming into my mind. Maybe windows saved the trojan with its restore capability. Where is AVG finding it?

AVG found the first one in a half finished song my little brother had downloaded from Limewire a few weeks ago and the 2nd is coming from somewhere i can't locate cause every time i try find where it came from it's not too be found.
As for upgrading, there just isn't the $$$$ at the moment to go back to Nortan and i'll have to go too the 2011 in 6-7 months and isn't worth $70 for it.
I know there not ment to be simple but really my computer? all they'll find is 4GB of FS add-ons and maybe a old bank satment from 4 years ago.
Thanks

Hi Phillip,
no one ever said anything of buying software. That's definitely not necesary.
I personally really like http://www.eset.de/download/testversionen (it's in german, but i'm sure they also got an english version). Just install the test version, and delete it after 30 days. But do not install 2 antivirus software at the same time! If you want a completely free solution, check Avira Antivir. Works like a charme on all my computers.
Even if the trojan doesn't want your bank statements or whatever, it might include a keylogger and get access to your emails, or whatever. Furthermore, it might use your computer to spread malware. You don't want to be made responsible for infecting other computers ... and thus should intervene this by getting rid of the trojan.
Did hijackthis find anything? AVG should at least tell you where it found the virus/trojan. Are there any log-files?

Hi Philip
I know a guy who's working for Avira (antivir) in Germany, who says that the free scanners has older/not complete definitions available. This doesnt mean you must buy a pay-version. It only COULD mean, a difference in protection wich does not have to mean something dangerous.

Interesting info. From what I've read everywhere it seemed as if both versions were almost identical ... interesting. Might have to think about getting NOD32 then *g*

You may also need to delete a restore point or two if that virus condition was captured during the creation of a restore point. Google how to boot to safe mode and clean up a restore point.

I would also stay away from limewire.. File sharing software is very notorious for trojans, and spyware of all kinds. Just a little FYI.. Hope you get it all cleaned up.
