I see a lot of posts in the cooler by members that need help with one thing or another. I, like most other members, are always happy to help. However, sometimes information that we need to help you is missing. Questions like, "I have this problem in FS that I can't figure out? Can anyone help?" go no where fast as that isn't specific enough. In order to expedite such help we need you to help us by providing some needed information up front. Doing so will greatly speed up the process of getting your issue resolved.
1) What operating system are you using? Windows XP ... VISTA ... Windows 7... etc., etc.
2) Which flight simulator platform are you currently having trouble with? FS9 ..... FSX
3) Is your flight simulator installed in the default directory? Default directory is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X ....if your using Vista or Win 7 you'll likely see a x86 after program files. basically we just need to know when you originally installed FS did you change the directory or leave it alone. If you are unsure try searching your hard disk drive for FSX.EXE or FS9.EXE to see where FS is located.
1 - 3 is the bare minimum we need to start helping you with the problem. Here are a few more details you can add that may be helpful:
4) Do you have FSUIPC installed?...do you see it in the FS menu under 'addons'? Is it registered? .... the latest version can be found here: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
5) Having ACARS issues? ...do you have the latest installer? Download it here: http://www.deltava.org/fleetlibrary.do
The more information you can provide up front the better. For example, if your having an ActiveSky problem like "It's not generating any weather" but fail to tell us that you are using ActiveSky on a separate computer your help thread is just going to go in circles and frustrate everyone.
Lastly, for anyone using VISTA or Windows 7: When starting Flight Simulator always right click on the desktop icon and select "Run as Administrator". Same thing for installers: Right click on them and select "Run as Administrator". Simply logging onto your computer as an ADMIN is not enough nor is it equivalent to the right click method.
