Hello Everyone.
After two years and a half with my current system, I think its time to upgrade my pc, even more now that I know PMDG will be releasing their 777 and NGX this year, and knowing there are some interesting Airbus models by Airliner XP. Im flying FS9 very descent today with max settings and paywae scenery, but FSXis just not ready to be flown yet by my system...(nor any of the add ons out there)
My budget is about $1000 bucks. I have monitors and the cabinet. Im not very into systems so I would like to ask you experts in Fsim out there what is the best I can equip with this money. Talking a bout a good Video Card, Processor, RAM, HD and Motherboard (unless Im forgetting something else ).
Thank you guys! and have a great one!

What are your current specs ??
-windows 7 64-bit
At least a decent Quad Core (3Ghz and higher) an i7 would be better , but getting a new i7 & a motherboard might be really expensive
RAM 4 Gigs or higher
Get a Raptor (for FSX only) western digital .. etc
nVidia video card ... (9800GTX , or Geforce 280 .... check nVidia specs page)
Telling us your current specs might help in reducing your shopping bill.

Instead of NVidia also think about ATI/AMD.
Those days they're much better than NVidia at least for performance. If you need NVidia only stuff (CUDA, whatever), there's no choice anyways...
RAM 8 gigs. Cheap anyway. Raptor? No, go SSD (might be out of budget, then go 7200rpm).
i7 is ok, but please no i5/i3 stuff...

If your feeling ambitious, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (3.2ghz six-core) for less than $300 and a ATI 5870 or 5970.

Thanks Ed. But I believe for Mexico, this is the best I can get for $1200.00
+ Motherboard Gigabyte chipset Intel
+ Intel i7 a 2.8 GHZ (860)
+ 6 GB RAM (DDR3, kit)
+ Video Card ATI Radeon 4350, 1024 MB RAM, PCI Xpress
+ Windows 7 64 bit Professional.
Still not sure if the video card is better than the NVIDIA GE FORCE.
And the guy who is helping me build this is suggesting that the I7 860 is more than enough than the I7 930, and is much less expensive.
Any final thoughts?

Looks great! But I do believe that NVIDIA cards are better for Flight Sim.

You can get the same performance out of a i5 750 that you can out of any i7 (excluding the 980, probably). Clock speed is the single MOST important thing to run FSX fast. If I were you, I'd invest in an i5 750, a good mobo, and a Corsair H50. You can run the i5 at speeds in excess of 4.0 GHz with this.
Also, make sure your GPU will not bottleneck the system. I'd go with the new GTX 5 series if you want to fork out the money. If not that, then the 460 will do fine. Just make sure it's got at least 1GB on it.
Isi, I'd go with this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130550
The Fermi's tend to run a little hot sometimes, so watch out.

Thankyou Steve.
I think im going with the I5 750 instead of the I7 870 and the GTX 470. The GTX 5 series, all together is over my budget Im using a Corsair H55. All this running on Windows 7 64bit. Do you think this will be a good investment to finally migrate from FS9 to FSX with full reality and a descent performance?

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211 $294 Best choice and bang for buck for both a medium and advanced system.
GFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127510 $209 Best bang for buck you can get.
MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665 $199 A good and safe choice at a low price.
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145295 $109 Good choice at a good price.
HDD for system and or FSX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136296 $100 Best mechanical HDD choice out there.
HDD for storage: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 $89 A good bang for buck for data storage.
Total= $1000!
With this system you will have a very good medium+ machine at stock speeds.
A little OC and you will have a top notch- system if you get a new CPU cooler.
Do NOT buy a quad at much lower speed vs a dual at high speed.
FS wil NOT perform better with a quad unless at same speed as dual!!
So if you go for i5, your choice should be -650.
I haven't checked prices at any other webshops than Newegg.com.
So you may get some of them cheaper other places.
Good luck!

If you're running a H55 you could easily overclock an i5 750 to 4.0+ GHz with a good mobo and PSU. This will perform much better than the dual core i5's clocked at the same speed hands down, and just as good as the quad core i7's.

I look for expandability in a system. If you cant do the whole shabang now, at least get a motherboard that has 4 memory slots and can support 8gb of ram. Also check and see if it will support the I5 and I7 cpus. You could get the cheaper now and upgrade later if neccessary. Chances are CPU prices will be less next year as something newer will probably be released. All good info in this post.
