I am just returning after a 6 month leave of absents due to work and before I departed I wanted to purchase an MD-88 payware program. Anyone have any recommendations? BTW it is good to be back in DVA.

The leoanrdo addon is great!! Never have i seen more compleat addon for fs. And what i like best whit this addon is the inbuild share cockpit funktion. this meen that you can be 2 pilots that crew this aircraft :-) And hold on. i did a test a few days ago and and We had stable connection between one pilot flying whit FSX and one whit FS9! Ill see if i get time to make a little tutorial about how you do this!

I don't understand why everyone talks up / is so scared of the Leonardo MD-80.
It was the last payware I bought (as in most recent) and I learned it in about 2 hours. If you want to jump straight from default FSX planes to the Leonardo then it might be pretty tough, but then again I think people hype it up way too much. I went straight from FSX default to PMDG 747. Took me about 3 days to master (or over a weekend). If you are at least vaguely familiar with any quality payware you wont have trouble the the Leonardo.
Not saying it isn't a great plane but its definitely not the nightmare that everyone makes it out to be. Its harder to install than it is to fly.

Well now...you are certainly in the minority...I own a ton of "high end" aircraft addons...and have oh...maybe...10,000 hours of FS time...atleast...and have been involved in this hobby since 1988...and I still found this particular addon to be a very "tough nut to crack"...
There are so many "gotcha's" from the manager & startup program thru to all the systems and avionics...I think this is one of the most complex addons ever...you must be a very special kind of pilot indeed...to think otherwise.

I'm with you Robert, don't have all that experience but it's one of the few paywares that accurately blows engines off if you keep TO power for over 5'... There are many others around, even the new CLS, and COOLSKY's but IMO still need to 'walk the talk' to get to Leo's level...
@Gene, make sure you get the FS2Crew voice pak...that's a diff level simulation!

As an MD-88 Captain, I've been flying the Leonardo ever since my checkride for the type! It may not look as good as CLS's md80 or as fps-friendly as Coolsky's Super 80, but this fully functional (even some circuit breakers work!) addon is HIGHLY recommended! I love it to death and it handles quite nicely! Like PMDG quality!

There's really no exact payware for the MD-88. Its systems are very similar to the MD-82, so the MD82 would fit quite nicely with teh Delta livery. The only real difference is the powerplant and MTOW. Unless you want to go freeware.....

I got comfortable with the jet in a week, the key is to read the manuals otherwise you won't get much out of the plane.

Better men than I, I couldn't even get the maddog to load properly. Worked on it for a couple days and gave up. Fly the CLS version. Better than any freeware, but not fantastic by any stretch of the imagination.
