It doesnt matter, the problem is lots of planes that are available for FSX really
have FS9 origins, they are just converted to work. These planes will not work
correctly if you enable DirectX 10. I believe all the fleet fall into this category.
I've yet to find a good reason to enable DirectX 10 anyway, a year back it was
a way to avoid certain FSX texture corruption problems, but since Easter that's
been fixed and with that fix FSX performance is way better as well.
The default FSX setup would have it off, but your symptoms sound like those
you experience when its on.
