Hey guys, I've been flying my new PMDG md-11 on FSX recently, but been very dissappointed. Every time I'm on Vatsim, i get a fatal error 5miles from the threshold. I'm running ACARS, FSINN, and FSX. I'm not sure which is causing it, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
DB

What do you mean by fatal error? Is it a CTD, something disengages in the plane itself or?...

Sounds like it may be an OOM (out of memory) situation... What is your OS and computer specs...?

The error appears on final, the screen freezes, FSX restarts. There really isnt a need for a screenshot, FSX closes and a popup window appears saying A fatal error has occurred.
Specs
AMD phenom quad core 2.3
4gb Ram
64 bit Windows 7
PNY GeForce GTS 250 Video card with 1024mb

Gee...you know...I'm not sure about the OOM...it usually only happens with XP OS...did you try posting on the PMDG forum...they are usually very knowledgable...also try PMDG customer support...sorry I can't be more help...

Update- erased all things fsx. Reinatalled but skipped fsinn, instead went with squawkbox4. Went for a test vfr flight last night. Less choppy already. Flying the md11 this afternoon. Will report how it goes.

Daniel,
You are not alone with this issue. I have to do my VATSIm flying with the FS9 version (I have both). I have never been able to complete a flight with the PMDG MD-11 and FSInn on FSX. I experience the same problem.... CTD about 5 mile final. That is even with no other traffic present at the arrival field. I am running W7 64Bit with 6 gigs of RAM and a 1.5 Gig video card. I have no idea what causes the problem. I have searched forums etc until I was just too tired to deal with it. So..when I fly the MD-11 on VATSIM, I do so in FS9. That may npt be an option for you. Its the only way I could alleviate my frustration. Yes, I have tried SB4 as well, and that works but I just don't like it as much as FSInn...so I simply revert to "old school - FS9"
