I will be getting a new computer soon, and I'm not sure what to get. I have an IBM computer right now with Windows XP, with NVIDIA GeForce MX440 with AGP8X right now and I know FSX doesn't run very well. Any tips on computer type I should get?
Thanks

This couldn't have been more vague of a question.
Budget? Do you want to build it yourself?

i dont have a lot to spend, only about 600-1000 dollars, and I can't build it myself. I would like a computer that has the ability to run fsx better

A quick search on Newegg.com threw this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229199
Yes, you mentioned you can't build it yourself, but if you ever change your mind about that, do build it yourself, it'll save you big bucks.
Any computer with an i5 or i7 (better) processor, and a strong NVIDIA GTX card should do the trick. No less than 4 GB of RAM DDR3 and at least 250GB in Hard Drive.
Hope this helps a little bit!
PS. Do your research, and do it well before buying a PC... ask around, what speeds, what clock rates, how much memory, etc...

Also, try to buy one with an SSD drive(Very fast/no moving parts, so no noise), but I don't know if any computers come with them, but I know they are easy to install (If you're not great with computers ([like me], just go to Best Buy and the Geek Squad will install it for $50...thats what I'm doing when I get my Intel 80GB SSD)

About half the cost of what you can spend. Might want to hold off on that.

Depends specifically on the service and your technical knowledge. $50 for them to plug in a HDD is absolutely insane though.
They have a target market which serves it's purpose. The HDD install really isn't one of them though

SSD's are expensive and not that much improvement to FSX for the cost, the first things you want to
make sure of is that you have as powerful a CPU as you can, we (Intel) are just about to release a new
generation of systems called Sandy Bridge, you want CPU -> enough memory -> good video in that
order. Sure if you had money to burn the SSD would be a nice frill, but the other stuff is world's more
important first. I would get an Nvidia GTX 570 video card, one of the new CPU's and 6G or more of
memory.

Sorry to make this a zombie thread, but my dad says I cant't build my own computer, and he also said that I should get a laptop since I'll be going to college in a few years. I found these two which are in my price range (under $1200). I was just wondering if I could get your input on my choices, or if there are any others you would recommend.
