I have chased this thing for a month , I have opened firewall, reloaded FSX it still reads "An error occurred while downloading Real-World Weather. Please check your Internet connection and configuration and try again. My connection is fine well at least for enternet explorer. Anyone, any ideas? I need to log my flights on ACARS.

Might need a little more information. Which version of Windows and whether you are using Windows firewall or a third party app like Norton 360. Also, are you using a router or are you connected directly to a broadband modem?

If you hold the Windows key and press R it will open the RUN window. Type cmd and press enter and you will be presented with a command window. Some call it the DOS window.

Are you running the command in the "DOS window" or from the RUN window?

Bob, I believe you are missing one detail. Open the Run command Windows key plus R. Enter "cmd" no quotes. Then enter telnet acars.deltava.org 15527

Terry

It almost sounds as if your ISP is blocking that port or you have some crazy hitch in your fire wall. Can you disable the firewall completely and rerun the command?

Bob, you may need to go into to your router to open the port. You will need to know the router IP address and the login user name and password. Once inside you will need to locate a section related to security and ports. Normally you can open a port for a specific PC on your network.
Until you resolve this, you can fly using ACARS offline. You will not be connected to the server but the flight will be followed and report filed manually in the pilot center. The flight data is saved on your HD. You can accumulate multiple flights for filing or filing individually after each flight.
Regards,
Terry

Bob, Also, you might remove Norton from your PC by uninstalling it. You might have disabled the antivirus part of Norton but the firewall part of Norton could be enabled which might be blocking your outgoing access to the port. I just use the windows firewall, I connect to a router, and then have AVG Free for antivirus and it all works well. Norton also uses a lot of CPU cycles which you need to fly FSX well.
