Yes, I'm overclocked to 4.2GHz, and it does wonders for me. But, as was said, do your homework. I don't think you're going to be able to get your 2.66 up to 4.00, not without a huge amount of cooling. May not be possible, that's too big of a step. Maybe 3.0GHz+.
As for the install, I second that above. Install on a second, separate hard drive. Check out Larry's post on the subject. I did what he recommended, and it made a huge difference.
