I used acars with dispatch for the first time yesterday, my question is after dispatch and accepting the route it was different from the route I submitted in fsx and the controllers seemed to have me follow the fsx route (kmke to kmsp) Do I not start a flight plan with fsx or do I alter it after dispatch? Hopefully I'm wording my question right. Basically after I'm done I want my flight path to match the dispatch path on the acars map and have atc controllers in the game while doing it.

Hi Joel, I am the dispatcher that worked your flight plan yesterday. I am not entirely sure what your talking about, but maybe we can clear some things up for you.
The hard part about your question is, I am not sure if you are talking about FSX ATC or VATSIM. It has been forever since I have used FSX ATC, but I thought that pretty much went off the flight plan that you load into it. I know I gave you BAE.EAU8 which is about the only route that is used if you are going from MKE to MSP.
I guess the answer to your question would be yes, you want them to match up. If you are talking about VATSIM, the controller doesnt have to allow you to fly that route, but he will make sure that you understand the new route that he issued.
If you are talking about FSX ATC, yes I would wait until you either get a flight dispatched to you or create your own route before you start up the ATC.
Hope this helps.

yes that helps. thanks for all your patience with me yesterday too. I don't know if you can go and look at my flight path, but on the map it flew parallel to your route. I belive it was KMKE BAE AUGER NICKL KMSP. Yours had a lot more way points which put the route further to the west, I just want the lines to match so from now on I'll wait then edit the route by dragging the lines in FSX flight planner to match the dispatchers route then I can follow the dispatched route and still have all the ATC control in FSX.

LOL, yeah, I actually was watching you fly that yesterday and was wondering what you were doing. This is the way BAE.EAU8 looks as a string BAE BEERI ROBBY KRSPY EAU HERMI TWINZ WOLVS LOOON ZASKY
Once you save that route and then load it into fsx, it should enter those new waypoints in for you. I am on now if you want to try it again.

gotta go to bed soon unfortunately. I did have 2 issues with that flight (1. if you look at the landing it was like 296 feet per minute force on touchdown, because right over the threshold a md88 AI plane pulled out onto the runway and they told me go around....go around how about STOP THERES A 737 OVER THE TOP OF YOU!! and 2. the flight number was recorded as my employee number is that normal/ instead of flight #2999 it put my ID number on the logbook as the flight number.

There is nothing that can really be done with out of control AI planes. You do have a couple of options, buy the payware Radar Contact ( you can google it). There is also a little freeware program called AI seperation. It will seperate the planes how you see fit. When I used it, I always kept everything at a distance of 5 NM. That way they dont all clog up on you.
As far as the Employee number instead of the flight number, that is common.

Just downloaded the file from FLIGHTSIMWORLD and it says that it's empty when trying to extract. Tried multiple times without success..very odd. Have to try it from work and see if I get the same result.
