Hi everyone.
First of all, happy hollidays and a great new 2011!!!!
The thing is, as my christmas gift, I gave myself a new system. All with the purpose to start flying FSX. Its an I7 870 at 2.93 G. 6GB or RAM and running Windows 7 64 Pro.
I used to fly FS9 with activesky, squakbox for online flying, and practically the whole 9 yards. I hear FSX is a little different in online flying and settings. My question is.....where should I start? Any notorious changes in programming from FS9 to FSX in terms of online flying? or anything I should now?
Any system tweaks to get a better performance out of FSX? I remember one had to tweak quite some things with the system to get FS9 to fly appropriatly such as a patch to use more memory, or Autostart to eliminate programs that just gave the CPU a headeach and caused FS9 to CTD....any way, things such as this.
Thank you again and enjoy your last 2010 week

Two questions....
How do I set up Windows 7 64 so that I can run FSX on one monitor and the other monitor leave it for other programs such as FSBuild, Squawkbox, DVA ACARS....etc
How do I configure the mouse so that I can use the middle button to move the view from within the VC?
These two came up as I start install...
Cheers

Thnaks Andrew.
Shift + O moves the head around, but how can I change possition in the VC, moving up, down, forward or backward.
On the monitors, as soon as I launch FSX, I get my secondary monitor to turn black, and I cant move any of the other programs there (Squawkbox or any of the programs Im running in windows) Ive tryed pressing ALT + enter, but that only exits full screen.

Holding the space bar while moving the mouse should make you look around. If you're talking about changing your vantage point, then use SHIFT+Backspace to move down, SHIFT+Enter to move up, CTRL+SHIFT+Backspace = Left, CTRL+SHIFT+Enter = Right. Forward is CTRL+Backspace and Backwards is CTRL+Enter.
If you go to Options->Settings->Controls menu, you should be able to find out all the controls, and re-assign as needed.
HTH!

Right click the mouse and undock the window of your interest and drag it to the other monitor!
P.S. also make sure that the extended monitor box is ticked from Control Panel >Display

I use my yoke to switch views, also from the FSX taskbar if you click on help you have the option to scroll all the keyboard keys!

On my computer I have to be in full screen to use the other monitor otherwise it just moves the window to the edge of the screen.

Guys.
In FS9, I used ActiveCam to save different VC views and assign them a specific view (ctrl+alt+1, ctrl+alt+....and so on) so that I could switch between two views during a flight, say If I wanted to switch between approach view and instruments view during a landing without having to use my keyboard numbers or arrows to move again.
Can I do this as well with DBS?
