I really need some guidance!
I spent around $1000 bucks in a new system. An Nvidia GTX470, I7@860, 6GB or RAM and Gygabite Motherboard, upgrading to Windows 7, 64Bit. All to be able to migrate from FS9 to FSX......Its been a nightmare!
Its been two weeks now, I havent been able to fly!
Between system tweeks and posts on the avsim forum and on DVA on how to tune my pc for better fs performance. Monitor configurations and troubles and videocard settings, im going crazy now!
Ive managed to install FSX and FSX Acceleration, along with the following add ons, some of which I had to pay for again.
PMDG747X
LDS767
Wilco Airbus Vol1 and 2
DBS Walk and Follow
Some scenery
Actve SKy X
FS Passengers X
the list goes on.
System is not working, I tried to fly today unsuccesfully for more than three times without even leaving the gate, a got a message that Windows and FSX stopped working an had to shut down. Same thing happened with Active Sky X....weird
I forgot what the name of the page was, but there was a service that helped users with online service to tweek the system and FSX up and running with the best options each user has. I forgot the service but Im really desparate now and after almost 15 days and more than 30 hours work time invested in this issue, i just dont have the patience anymore.
This is my biggest hobby of all, and I dont whant to throw it all away because of this issue.
Could any one with time and experience point me in the right direction on what to do?
I really appreciate your time, guidance and help
Thanks and happy start of 2011

I would start with just FSX and FSX Accel and see how that does. Then add each add on one-at-a-time and see which one causes your problem. Sometimes add-ons interfere with each other and things like this can happen.

Follow this guide religiously and you'll be good ....I would call HI-FI Simulation support and see if they give. you a refund and switch to ASE, I bet that Active Sky X is half of your problems!

You didn't happen to take a disk from a previous system, drop it into the new
hardware and then just try to use it, did you? Lots of things break in scarey ways
when you do that.
That's a great bunch of hardware, it should run all that stuff like a dream, take Chris's
advise, one step at a time.

Windows will attempt to tell you what is wrong, sometimes its difficult to decode this. I have found the Event Viewer a very valuable in figuring out why things are doing what they are doing, I found my G9 LCD screen was causing problems with windows 7 and crashing my FS9. Anyways, to get to the event viewer go to control panel, then Administrative Tools, and click on view event logs, once there dbl click on event viewer (local) and look at the Administrative Events. This sometimes will tell you what program stopped, or what .DLL is giving you grief, Or will give you some information that you can google and stumble on the issue (error codes and such) Give it a try.
