Actually, the CPU itself is fine, it's the motherboards that support the 2nd generation i7's that have been recalled. They have an issue with the SATA II ports, that could cause them to degrade over time. The new mobo's aren't expected until April. To answer your question, I would go with the with the 2nd generation i7's and the dual channel memmory, because the benefits of the newer processor outweigh the benefits of the triple channel memmory.
