So....I got a new system in December, installed windows vista ultimate 64bit which I was running before and had FS9 installed with the perks. However after managing two flights, FS9 would crash with either msvcrt.dll error or dsound.dll error.
Did some research on them and found out dsound.dll is a Direct X file, so I went on and downloaded the latest D(X) update(s). msvcrt.dll was linked to Visual Studio C++ based on my research, so you guessed it, went on and downloaded the latest
which was 2010 express. However, none of this helped. Most times FS9 would crash as soon as I release parking brakes or during push back. Thinking it's a vista thing I did a complete clean install of windows 7. Same thing again, literally after
two flights FS9 would crash with one of the errors. I noticed when FS9 crashes everything else crashes (IE,Firefox,ASE,Skype.....everything running in the background crashes). When it crashes with dsound.dll, a screeching sound comes from my
speakers and then a computer like voice begins reading out an ATIS....yes an ATIS....totally weird and then stop short and crashes everything.
Other things I've tried was new RAM didn't work. Registry cleaners...didn't work. Virus scan with eset...nothing. I disabled my on-board sound card and used an external USB sound card...still nothing. Re-installed fs9.1 update...to no avail. I'm totally
bewildered. I can't fly at all....
Please help!

Well, I don't have a wide knowledge of c++. I just downloaded the 2010 version. Now that you've mentioned it...im going to download the redistributable files and report back.
Thanks.

Ok John. Can you explain what are these redistributable files and what they actually do. Also can you provide a link for version 1 to 4 because I can only find them by years for example 2005,2008,2010. I downloaded 2010 redistributable files.

OK Caleb I am not a programmer but from what I have read in the past is that programs written in a paticular form of C or C++ .net framework the computer tries to execute the program if the redistributables were noty in place then the program would kick back errrors. So fast foward you will need to make sure that you have versions 1 - 4 installed. to see if these were installed go to your go to the windows/microsoft.net/framework to see what versions are installed

Some new light....the crashes has a code "0xC0000005" Google says it's an access violation error. I've tried various suggested solutions including registry cleaners but I still have the error. Someone please spread some light on a possible fix please!!!
