I am working towards the MD-11 as my forseeable goal here. I used to work at FedEx, loaded and did the weight-and balance for the MD-11's and have an interst from that. However the DVA Fleet Library does not have one for FSX. Per the DVA download page:
"McDonnell-Douglas MD-11--This Delta Virtual Airlines Fleet Library installer is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
The IFDG McDonnell-Douglas MD-11 in Delta OC, NC, NNC and NNC07 liveries, along with Alitalia, KLM and Korean Air Lines. Includes Alain Capt's MD-11 panel v2.51, load/balance utility and sound package. Features an updated FDE by Shane Olguin."
With the PMDG version being way overpriced at US$79.00 at the moment, I went looking for alternatives. I am patient enough to wait for the price to subside. When it gets down to where their PMDG 747 is priced, then I'll consider it.
Anyway, I found this one--the Overland SMS MD-11, but the texture is horrendous (may have to translate the page since this is a Japanese site; also it says it's a FS2004 version, but it does work in FSX):
http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.overland.co.jp/sms/free.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Doverland%2BSMS%2Bmd-11%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1W1ADSA_en%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.com&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhiBIjt-rLXQ3LS7XRhWa-5O8byU7Q
I then found this link with some new textures for the Overland SMS MD-11, surprisingly one of which was a Delta texture:
http://www.avsimrus.com/f/fsx-aircraft-liveries-and-textures-78/textures-for-md-11-sms-overland-29797.html
You don't even know the Delta texture is there until you download it. I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to add the textures to an existing aircraft, but I just can not get it to work.
Here is what my cfg file looks like (I also can't tell which one is the Delta texture). Any help how to correct this or better yet if someone could get it working, get the appropriate permissions and add it to the DVA Fleet Library would be perfect.
continued...
I have clicked on the "Show All Variations" and still the only thing that shows up is the original aircraft texture.
I would appreciate any help,
Don

You can get a program called VINET FS9toFSX and use it to utilize the MD11 FS9 fleet model into FSX (you won't have a VC).

I have that one, but I believe the other is a little better in the way it operates and the control panel is a little softer on the eyes.

Thanks, I'll give it a look. Is the DVA Fleet Library version nice enough to spend the money for this one conversion?
However, can anyone help with the problem at hand?

Disregard. I found the PMDG MD-11X on sale for $49.99 with free shipping and jumped on it.

I know in today's world, $50.00 is still a steep price for an FSX payware (much better however than the normal price). Just the same, there are no comparison;s whatsoever between the PMDG MD-11 and anything else you can find (free or pay). You will not regret the investment at all. Glad you found one on sale. Enjoy the plane!
