If you use FSUIPC for the axis assignment make sure you delete the axis assignment out of the FS controls section.

It is entirely possible that the potentiometer for the throttle control is bad....if it is under warrenty you can get another replacement

I'd been having the same issue lately with a Logitech Xtreme 3D Pro. I tried calibrating and reassigning the control all to no avail. Mike -- If George is having the same problem as I was having, it didn't seem like a bad pot. I had smooth increase/decrease with no jumps for a certain range, and the missing band at the beginning and end of the range of motion was the same (tested on an A300 panel that had numeric displays for throttle percentage). What I did was set the throttle slider sensitivity all the way to max sensitivity. If you make it less sensitive, FS seems to add in a buffer on the extreme ends so that each movement you make affects the throttle response less, if that makes sense. Setting sensitivity all the way to the max fixed it for me.
EDIT: Also, Make sure null zone is set to zero. Also, this is through standard FS control settings, but I'm assuming the full FSUIPC has something similar that may be causing the issue.
