Ok, these errors are getting bad enough to where i cant even get through preflight. I know threads like this have come up before, but i still cant fly because my FS crashes all the time.
Im using W7x64bit, and i cant ever get through a flight anymore, because FS keeps crashing. Most of the time, i'm just sitting there, doing preflight flows, and then FSX just stops responding. Then i have to start all over again. I also get a bunch of errors that mess up my flight when i use squawkbox. I get these "Microsoft redistributable 2005++" type errors, and they pop up like every 5-10 minutes, so i "ignore" them and continue, but they keep popping up, and still keep crashing FSX. I have everything set to run as admin. Im thinking the problem is either W7 or SB4. Im thinking the problem could also be FSX Deluxe. I checked the compatibility with Deluxe & W7 on Microsoft's site and its said that they weren't compatible together. Do you guys think that if i switch back to the original FSX, and buy/install acceleration it will fix the problem?
Compatibility link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?l=en&type=Software&s=Microsoft%20Flight%20Simulator%20X%20gold
Thanks in advance,
Alex

few things to check for-
make sure FSX, SB, and anything else accessing the internet for your flying has FULL permission with your Virus/firewall. Some will limit access and terminate communication giving FSX issues.
test FSX flying offline to see if the errors and CTD's continue, also push the sliders up a bit while testing.
If there are no issues with errors and CTD's whiles testing, if you don't already, open SB outside of FSX, and see if that helps.
what weather plugin or program are you using? Most weather programs I've tried crash FSX within 5-10 minutes or even before I taxi to the runway.
I am not sure about the MS redistributable 2005++, Maybe try uninstalling it and reinstalling a fresh version and with the install, right click and "run as admin". With all the forums I have seen I've never seen the conflict between FSX delux and W7, so that is new and I will check further.
Hope some of this helps.
and some system specs would help a little
looked up the link you posted, and the delux version is 32bit compatible. you could try moving the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder into your Program Files/ microsoft games. This I think is a 32bit set up. Depending on the addons you have you'll have to change paths for them to access FSX since it will no longer be in the Program Files (x86).
just an extra thought.

Ok, i bought FSX Gold, did a fresh reinstall using this link:
http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic29041.html
I barely did stuff in the .CFG file, and i only have these addons installed so far: DVA ACARS, QW757, Imagine Sim KATL, REX, and the 1106 AIRAC cycle for QW.
I was on decent into Atlanta (field was in sight) and out of no where, FSX froze up, than said it had a fatal error. Don't get it. I looked on google, and some people said if you had Java installed, it could cause problems with FS. Do you guys think that is the problem?
System specs:
Intel core i7-930 overclocked to 3.59GHz
EVGA SLI3 Motherboard
EVGA GTX-570
6GB OCZ TCR
Antec TP 650w PSU
Cooler Master CPU cooler
Western Digital 500gb HD 7200rpm (Runs windows 7 64-bit)
Western Digital 300gb HD 7200rpm (storage)
G-Skill 60GB Solid State Drive (dedicated to FSX)
Thanks so much in adavance,
Alex

personally your system is a little better than mine but, do some looking up of the amount of power you need to run that system. I have 800W Corsair PSU and it isn't enough. My ATI 5870 uses 500W alone and the i7 I have uses around 220W, let alone all the other gadgets I have attached to the PSU. I will not recommend a certain wattage but I would recommend looking into the actual amount of wattage your system can handel. If you over power you can damage your system. A lot of manufacturers will slap shmo way unerpowered units in PCs which create issues like yours. I was having a lot of the same issues had a 425W, looked up the requirements for my PC with a few online PC power calculators and found I was beating my head against the wall over a power issue. I bought the 800W which is still short on power. FSX ran like a dream I could even run DX10 but really is useless
All in all your system is rockin, but with all the goodies the CPU is not getting the power to run FSX correctly.
Things to watch out for in my experience, more power=more heat=more cooling. Make sure you have pleanty of good cooling fans and even hydro cooling if you want to put up the scratch for it. If you add power and no cooling the entire PC will shut off to prevent overheat=Not good.
hope this helps and hope I didn't inspire one of these
This is the PSU recommendations for my system "Your power supply rating should be greater than 976.5 watts. I suggest adding 10%, which would be 1074.15 watts, for future expansion. " just investigated and this is the lowest at three sites I have found.

Steve, a 5870 should NOT require 500w of power. According to AMD's website, it should draw a max wattage of 228w (for the Eyefinity 6 version) and the i7 should only need a maximum of 130w. A 650w PSU is perfect for his setup. I'm guessing you have a defective PSU. My Corsair 750w recently exploded beause of a manufacturing defect, and I have read of a lot of folks who have had issues with their Corsair power supplies, but 800w is about twice what you need. Just RMA it for a new one. As for your CTD error Alex, I'm sorry but i can't really help you. I just built a PC with Windows 7 64 bit, but had no time to install FSX, because of the aforementioned PSU "incident." I did fequently get a not responding fatal error when using Vista 32 bit, however, so part of the problem might just be FSX being such an unstable game.

You did your HW Joseph. the GC and i7 do not take the power I said thanks for that correction, but (AMD website "500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode) 800W is twice what I need to run two pieces of harware. when I mentioned adding power it was also including all the extra hardware ROM drives, DVD-RW drive, 1-2 HDD's, used USB's with power draw, fans, MOBO, RAM, built in speakers etc. It adds up. the power is supplied to more than just the CPU and GC. As for your corsair 750W, that really sucks and thanks for the heads up, I will look into the reviews and possibly think of getting a replacement. It worked for me and relieved my CTD's, my comment was merely a suggestion to investigate a possible hardware issue that worked for me.

I'm glad a new PSU fixed your issue with the CTD. That 500w or greater spec on AMD's website is a bit misleading, as it means a full PC with an HD5870 will need a <500w PSU. That includes the GPU, CPU, HDD's, DVD players, Mobo, and fans. It is not the reccomended spec for the graphics card only. Sorry for the confusion. Also, with Corsair PSU's, they either work briliantly, or fail completely. It's just luck of the draw.

Joseph you are right about the Corsiar PSU. There is a more recent version out the gaming series which works much more efficiently, unless that is the one you had then I may need an upgrade.
Alex, any luck? I am not quite sure how else to address the problem, it could be a number of things? but I start with the hardware; it is just my method. Just from your specs which are very, very good, the only thing that came up to me was the PSU stuff becasue your system is quite jacked; maybe a small increase in RAM too, to compliment the i7 930's full capacity.
Joseph any thoughts?

Steve, I am using the HX series PSU from Corsair. I had read so many positives about them, and was shocked when it started shooting sparks. I would RMA yours, and if you get another bad one, just switch to another manufacturer (Seasonic seems to make rock solid PSU's.) Or you can swich to the gaming series right now if you want; it's up to you. Hopefully my next HX750 will work as intended.
Alex, Steve has a good point to 1st check and see if it is a hardware malfunction. An increase in RAM would help, but i think it is software that is at the root of the issue. Since you seem to be getting a "Microsoft Redistributable 2005++" error, i'm guessing it is some sort of issue with that file. Try downloading this: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=18471 as it is the latest vertion of the file that is giving you problems. Just make sure to uninstall any previous versions of the file before installing this one. This is really the only thing I can suggest. If you keep getting errors, try e-mailing microsoft, as they may be able to help you further. You can also google the error to see what others with the same problem have done. Good luck!
Joseph
