First off, you need to start with a case of course, but there are 2 types of motherboards, you have a micro ATX, and just a regular ATX. You need to be sure whatever case you buy you can fit your motherboard in. I suggest starting here, at the time i posted this link there is a video on building your own computer. It is very easy but its just a matter of knowing what will fit where and also how much power your hardware will suck and what wattage Power supply you will need. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Computer.aspx?name=Computer-Hardware

Step 1 is to get yourself educated on this subject. Don't run into this project blind! ....but then again, its only money!

Thanks! This is really useful information!
I just wanted to ask, which combination of different hardware should i use (maybe from your own computer)? I would like to get ~40 FPS with FSX, SB, Ifly 737/PMDG 747 and REX 2.0.
Thank you very much,
Nikita

I know the basics of computer building
Thats about all it takes to build a computer. The most difficult part are the drivers and software installation.

Nikitas, congratulations on getting started on your computer build! DVA is super helpful, as I just recently build my first.
I started with picking a processor, then motherboard, case. etc.
Here are my components if you want a little direction. (FSX)
Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216
Motherbaord http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130573
Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 Going with the 2500k because FSX doesn't take advantage of hyper threading, good over-clocker too.
Cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065
GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565
RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231445
Optical drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135224
Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028
SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227593 (for windows and FSX)
One note: I kind of wish I went with an ASUS motherboard because of the BIOS difference. However, since both allow you to use a mouse...you couldn't go wrong with either.
