Hello all, I just joined yesterday 6/29 and just finished my first flight to be sent in to the flight report area in the pilot center. I thought since I cant use Acars yet I would check out the manual just to get familiar with it. I saw it had a route plotter and Fuel management system within itself. But i was wondering, does the pilot have to use these tools, that or even dispatch? Because, Ill be flying the Wilco Airbus for a long time here, due to its my favorite aircraft, and it comes with a fuel planner, which i Use every flight, and plus I get my route off of www.flightaware.com. So all in all, do I need to use the fuel planner, Route Plotter, or in some cases Dispatch for every flight?
Thanks, Nick (No ID, sorry )

No, you don't have to use any of the built in tools. That's entirely up to you. But, you could have used ACARS for your first flight. There's a check box to indicate you are a new pilot.

Thanks much for your quik reply help. But ive completed the very firsy flight, so now Im officially with DVA (DVA9900) and can fly the airbus. But I was wondering, out of the 10 flights to be a captain, when do the Checkrides come in? Just to clarify is it 5 flights then the CR and tests?

Nick, you won't be given a checkride in the A320 as you have been assigned to that program. After 10 Legs which must be more than 150NM you can ask to sit the A320 captain's exam and then once you have passed that and become a captain in the A320 you can ask to either switch to a different program or ask for additional ratings in a different plane. You must then take the 1st officers exam for your chosen additional rating/program and after successfully passing the 1st officer exam a checkride will be assigned to you for that specific aircraft.

Thanks alot, sorry for all the concerns here, Ive been reading the manuals too, but the Promotion manual doesnt have the Airbus category in them. So just to clarify, one last thing, I promise :). To switch to a differant program thats like a program in stage 2 for example. So to switch to a differant program thats like the Md-88 or 737 correct? And a additional rating, of course once captain, would be like the A330 or 767 etc, correct? And I can fly all the aircraft in the airbus program wihout a checkride like the Saab340 and B1900d? Thats it, thanks so much. Only a Yes would be good to answer these questions.
Glad to be here and have the help. DVA9900

You mainly got it right Nick although you can switch to another stage 2 program or request stage 3 once you have passed your A320 captains exam. Whenever you switch you will always have to do a checkride! Once that is passed it is the same procedure, you will start as a 1st officer and then its 10 legs to captain,Captains exam then you can request to go into stage 4 and the same thing starts all over again. With regard the 767 and A330 once you have passed your A320 captains exam you can request the 767 as it's stage 3, but the A330 is stage 4 so you will need to be a captain in stage 3 before going for that. And Finally yes you can fly the saab and the beechcraft if it says in your pilot center homepage that you are eligible with your A320 rating you currently have.
Sounds complicated but it will soon be second nature to you.
