A couple of nights ago, while flying my PMDG 73G, I had a failure in pressurization system.
After going through abnorman procedures checklist, I was able to resolve the problem, but if not, the next step would have been to decend to or below 10,000, then of course the next obvious step would have been to land.
Would that have been counted as two cycles?

DVA NOTAM 33
From time to time, flights may divert due to mechanical or weather problems. Diversions need to be made at least halfway through the flight to airports served by Delta Virtual Airlines or its codeshare partners. If landing at the alternate airport results in an invalid flight leg, this leg will be held. You should continue from the alternate airport to the original intended destination. When completed both legs can be reviewed for approval.
NOTE: Delta Virtual Airlines will not approve flights when the Departing and Arriving airports are the same. If you have a reason to return to the departing airport, the flight will not be approved.
Approval of any diversions is within the discretion of the Vice-President of Operations, and Delta Virtual may reject any diversion as seen fit.

I've seen this, and as much as I hate to say it, it seems grey to me.
If approved, this would count as two cycles?
I'm not looking to start having constant emergencies, but I suddenly realized just how quickly a situation could result in a diversion.
Thanks Michael.

Please also remember, as the NOTAM states, Ultimately the approval is at the discretion of DVA Staff.
That doesn't mean that every time you have this happen you cant file the report. These reports serve as great learning tools in your log book.

The two flights would count as two legs if that is what you are asking.

You Know I don't like how you can't have an takeoff alternate as they do this in the real world just for the purpose of returning to the field if something happens at takeoff and the landing is below mins at the dep field. That is why I don't like this NOTAM because its saying you can only have an emergency half way through your flight, when you never know when they will come. That's just my 4 cents about this NOTAM

Jose, you can still file the PIREP and it will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the ops department. The choice to approve or reject is up to them.

We should add the 1 2 3 rule to the notams for alternets. 1 hour before and after eta 2000 foot ceilings and 3 mile vis. That or less you need an alternate. At least that's how it is in the really world. Now I not a commercial pilot yet (but I am just ab to take my instrument written) but commercial SOPs might be a lot stricter then the FAA and I also know that a commercial carrier can't shot an instrument approach if the weather is already reporting under mins. That's my 2 cents
Thanks Stephen

I've done some flying at another organization online that has a LOT of rules for the filing of flights. They check the equipment suffixes, are beyond demanding on the route filed, alternate requirements, etc. While it may be more realistic, and that organization does allow flights of all kinds (GA, airlines, military), it honestly never really enhanced my experience. I deal with all of those rules at work, it's tedious. What I do in the sim world should be focused on enjoyment. If you want to impose those rules on yourself, there is absolutely nothing stopping you. I personally do include alternates, as well as possible holding, and contingency into my fuel planning as you never know what might happen in VATSIM, espicially during an event. I just don't support the idea of it becoming DVA requirement. There is no guarantee that new requirements would fit your concept as there are different rules throughout the world governing the same topics. Also, it would drastically increase the time it takes to verify each flight.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
John - What was the pressurization problem? Did you actually depressurize?

No, there was no actual depreussurization, but the auto valves apparently had an elect problem. Cycling to manual then back to auto took care of the problem.

Next time just remember to close the cabin door (that ACARS conveniently opens for you) after your previous flight. LOL!

I don't like ACARS opening the door, until the jetway pulls up to the gate.
