Ouch, sorry to hear, Jose. Did you have it on any kind of surge protection or do those not help in the event of a direct hit?

I'm Sorry that I haven't been flying with DVA all this summer. Before the router was upstairs it was downstairs in the basement. This is what happen, I was just getting back into town from seeing my cusin and you know when summer gets here and it gets all hot out and all of theses wicket storms and etc. So just that one night as I was about to log on to ASCARS and start my second online flying there was a loud thunderstorm and it was poring down cats and dogs. Now the router was in the basement which I didn't new at the time, then in the morning the basement got flooded and messed up the router. I was so mad and I had to get it to ATT to get a new one. I was just about to fly when I lost the connection.

I strongly recommend an Un-interruptable Power Supply (UPS) which is both a Surge Protector and battery back up. I've been using these babies ever since I had a computer get fried by lightning back in 1993 (Yes, we had computers back then!). I have never lost a computer to mother nature since, and I run my machines 24/7 through all sorts of weather. We actually get terrible lightning here, but have never had a problem. Plus most UPS manufacturers have warranties of upwards to $150,000 should your equipment end up destroyed by any kind of power problem (including lightning) while properly connected to the UPS.
I protect just about any sensitive electronics I have including my LCD/LED tvs, PS3, WII, Directv boxes, routers, cable modem, etc. They are very good investments IMO.

+1. I just bought one the other day because our power kept cutting out due to high demand. They also regulate voltage. A great investment IMO.
