Hey all,
So just yesterday I was at my grandparents apartment on their computer and I was just looking around on the internet at aircraft and flight simulator add ons. My granparents saw me doing this and they said that if I wanted to I could install FSX on their computer, so basically I could fly when I am at their apartment. But anyway, my question is this:
If I have a flight going on at my house and I have to go to my grandparents, can I do another flight there too? So I would have two flights flying simultaneously, but on 2 different computers. I don't think I would be able to have ACARS on that computer though, that is the only catch. This would mean that I would be submitting 2 flights at almost the same time, so say I was doing KJFK - EGLL on my home computer, than at my grandparents I did KJFK - KATL too? Would those PIREPS be approved even though I would submit them closer together that the actual flight time?
If anybody has any thoughts on this it would be great.
Thanks.
Remy

This would mean you would show up twice on the ACARS map, google earth, etc. I doubt you are allowed to do this.

Ok, I agree with those, but as I said before, I do not think I could have ACARS on my grandparents computer. I was thinking I would just submit them as offline without ACARS.

my question is, If the computer can handle FSX why wouldn't it be able to handle ACARS? that program is not demanding at all! second, where does it say that the flights won't be approved? I have 2 different computers 2 different versions of FS, 1 yoke and one joystick that I could use? so again why wouldn't be approved?

The reason I say I don't know if I could put ACARS on there computer is because they are very protective of their identity and as I know it, ACARS gathers information about your computer and my grandparents would not want that, they won't even let me get them a digital backup of their files with their Mac, they just don't want it, not to talk about my grandparents badly, but u Know that they will not let me install ACARS. Even if they did it wouldnt work because their Internet connection goes out every 5 minutes basically.

There would be no way to verify that both flights were legitimate. It would start down a very slippery slope to allow two flights being flown at the same time.

Yep, here is the run down. If I wanted to pull this: one of the flights would be flown on ACARS, the other would not. Submit the ACARS flight when you are done and submit the other flight as an offline report. You didn't hear this from me, but why would you put this in the Cooler? This is like sending a letter to the cops if you can smoke weed tomarrow night. Anyways, I don't think it is right. Just because you can doesn't mean it is okay to do.

Ryan, i don't get what you are trying to say, but personally I think the latter part of what you said was a bit inappropriate for the cooler. I am simply asking a question so that I know what I can do. I do not want to go do the flights and then get them rejected. I also think this is important for everybody here who has more than one computer with FS on it. Why isn't it okay? It's a question, that is nowhere near like that of which you said.

Why isn't it okay? This is a hobby, try to enjoy it. Flying two flights at once isn't very attentive to either, and it sounds to me that you are trying to be a flight machine. What good is having 1000 flight legs if you only have the experience of 500? Slow down and make each flight count.

Here's a scenario - you own two airplanes in real life. How do you log time in both?
Easy answer - you can't fly two airplanes at once. Same situation here. You cannot log time on two flights at once, and as a friendly hint I'm going to get really annoyed if I have to write code to allow the staff to detect this situation, because it's a waste of my time yet trivially easy to detect.
Cheers!

You go over to your grandparents house to fly? Spend time with your family. The grim reality is they won't always be there. One day, maybe not as far into the future as you might think, you will think, "Wow, I wish I would have been doing x, y, or z with grandma or grandpa instead of playing that stupid flying game while I was at their house." At that point, if you don't feel like the gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe, you have no soul.

This is the same concept as getting a flight in the air and going to sleep... you cant exactly be there to make sure that everything is still going ok, nothing has messed up, and talk to ATC if necessary. Whats the point? Especially here at DVA where hours dont matter... its the legs. And even though your getting double the legs, you still arent getting the full enjoyment out of flight sim. If your that bored during cruise, fly shorter flights or find something to do that you can keep and eye on FS while doing (im usually surfing the web on my second monitor, watching a movie, on skype/teamspeak, or playing on my PS3).

Hmmm, would this be a good time to have a new channel created in the water cooler? We could call it "addicted".We could put in a bunch of signs to look for and suggestions to help!We all talk about how DVA is a head of the pack in VA'S,lets take it a step farther,i know no other va has this, and they all have this issue!
