I have downloaded the client software for Teamspeak. This seems to be the choice of voice software in Europe on the IVAO network. I've decided to try flying on IVAO for awhile since there are more European controllers on this network.
My problem is getting connected to a voice server. RW doesn't work to connect, so I am attempting to use the Teamspeak software. It is requiring a user name and a password for all server IP's and channels.
Where do I get a user ID and password for this voice client????? The tutorial would probably be alright if the information on obtaining a user ID and password were included.
My flight to Munich earlier today on IVAO was a communications nightmare. I had the correct frequencies tuned, but couldn't hear anyone nor could they hear me.

Mabye ServInfo would help (You might have tried that out yet, stupid advice) I only fly on VATSIM, when I have time to do so... there seems to be more mexican controllers on IVAO though

It's your IVAO ID and password if I remember correctly.

Thanks, yes I tried that and it worked. ServInfo seems to be useless for changing radio frequencies. I've tried every configuration I can think of and my User Name and Password have both been entered on ServInfo, but it still doesn't work in the cockpit. I have the "Communicate with Gauge" checked as well.
When I have to change frequencies, I have to minimize FS and open ServInfo and click on the controller position and log on from the window that pops up. There must be an easier way. Maybe I'm missing something somewhere.

I found out by experimenting that for some reason RW has to be running too. Not connected to a server, just running. This seems strange to me as I thought TeamSpeak would be taking the place of RW, but TS seems to need RW as a gateway or access point to any voice server no matter what network.
When I first had both running I was conncted to the default UNICOM. When I tried changing frequecies in ServInfo I recieved errors. I disconnected from the UNICOM frequecy server in RW and all of a sudden everything was working.
Changing frequencies takes longer as many controllers are using different servers and they don't seem to be cross-linked in any way for comms. All of the available frequencies show up in Servinfo even though they are on different servers.
To change the frequency, you just select it and click on tune as normal, but it takes a few extra seconds for TS to switch servers. In addition, I could be wrong about the available frequencies showing up on other servers. Especially during hand-off's to the next controller. By the time I got a round to trying to get this to work tonight, Europe had gone to bed.
Last night when I flew back from Munich, I talked to several controllers who were on different servers. I had to minimise FS, bring up SI, select the controller position, and when the info box on the controller popped up, clicked "Join". If I can't figure out how to change these frequencies in the aircraft this is really going to be a pain in the ass as busy as Europe is on the IVAO network.
I'm going to play around with it more when I have another afternon off and see if I can't get the bugs worked out of this. IVAO really is the network for Europe, but their communications protocol sucks.

Michael:
I use the IVAO network quite frequently and TS should not require you to have RW running in the background. I do not even have RW on my PC at all. The username and password to connect to the TS servers is the same as your IVAO login.
Best regards.

Another question. Are you using the IVAP client? This makes using TS alot easier. It switches the frequencies for you as does SB for VATSIM.

Never heard of IVAP. I'll have to look for that. It would make life on the flight deck much easier.
I thought it strange that RW had to be running for this to work. If TS is a client program it shouldn't require anything else (except for the IVAP to allow SB and ServInfo radio switching) to get it to work.
Thanks for the head's up!

Apparently I have it working, though I'm not sure what I've done. I unchecked the box in SB for "Use RW" so it doesn't auto-open any longer.
I opened ServInfo first, then TS, FS, and SB. I didn't have any trouble yesterday morning into Düsseldorf. I'll still have to wait to fly in the afternoon with multiple controllers to see if it's *really* working properly. I never did get a responce to requests for a voice check on UNICOM. There were plenty of aircraft flying not under ATC and I can't imagine I was the only pilot using voice so I'm still not convinced it's working at 100% yet.
Didn't get a chance to download that other program, but I'm working on it.
