Hey guys I tried switch out the MB and CPU in an old computer. The cable for the power button didn't match up with MB. Made a hole in the connector so that it would slide on the board. Powered the computer on nothing happened. It was worth a try, took the new board back out and put the old board back in turn power on, the computer turns on but I have no display. Any ideas what is going on. Wondering if maybe I ruined my GPU somehow, I'm ususally pretty careful when working on computers. I have another GPU so I can see if that works.

When you put the old board back in powered up, did you see anything at all on the screen upon startup? Does the computer make more beeping sounds than before the change?

I don't think there's anything wrong with the GPU, or at least there is something amiss earlier than the POST process. You might want to double-check that all the cables to your motherboard are attached. If the motherboard is less than about 5-6 years old there might be two power attachments: one for the motherboard components and one for the processor. The motherboard component power cable is usually about 20 - 24 wires in a rectangular connector, the processor power supply is about 4-8 wires in a square connector. Both of these have to be connected for the system to work properly.
Newer graphics cards also have a power connector. Without the power connector attached to the graphics card you will not get anything on the screen even though the computer appears to be booting properly. The graphics card power connector is about 4 wires in a square connector. I could be wrong as some cards are different than others.

Yes I'll take a look again but almost positive everything is attached correctly. Get back with you all tomorrow.
