wow what a learning curve getting to grips with this, after many years attempting unsuccessfully to get FSX working on my system, slowly but surely I'm getting into it, I don't know if others here would agree but she has an awful way of biting you on the behind when you are unsuspecting and I'm finding after each session something crops up which says to me "don't do that again", today I attempted KJFK-KLAX in the PMDG 747, got as far as ARD,(last fix on the JFK1) before system froze when attempting to replace VATSIM weather with FS real world weather after setting CAVOK(an old FS9 trick to get high altitude winds), this came after 40 minutes delay due to trying to get AES to work at FSDT's JFK, it dosent like that at all so am using GSX from now on, also to see the PMDG virtual cockpit you need to have the zoom on about 30, well saving as the default flight dosent agree, when you load up next time it dosent display the aircraft, you have to save at around 60+ zoom, then had an issue with WOAI installing aircraft only for FSINN to stop recognising and refusing to allow me to assign the models to ai aircraft, I've found it best to install no more than 5 packages at any one time before loading FSX and allowing the registry to recognise them.
It would seem as though I'm going to have to set things up bit by bit before going live with it, unlike FS9 where I could be really lazy with setting up(I have laziness down to a science) FSX requires a level of work in order to make it purr, I think it'll be challenging but rewarding once everything is up and running
I wonder what other FSX users have been through and how long did it take to get things right, are their any sort of must haves in order to allow stable running on modern systems, I have that UIautomationcore which eliminated the constant stop working messages
