Morning, all...
I was just curious. Delta used to fly the DC-9 on routes...is there a chance of being able to use it here with DVA, and if so, how would I certify to fly it?

You can fly the DC-9-32/50 and to fly them you must be qualified in the MD-88/90.

The aircraft (actually, the entire series) is available at www.jetcityaircraft.com, or through Flight 1 at www.flight1.com. For being a payware product, I actually find it a very good addon, and well worth what I paid for the complete series ($24.95 USD).
If you get all five series, the total download size is about 107MB.

But you must take into consideration - the Jetcity machine has no panel with it.
They d superior external and flight models, but with out simulation the auircraft's systems, to me it is not a complete product.
You can combine them with the FLight1 Iron Knuckles DC9 and they do make a good combo.

Any idea when the SGA freeware DC-9 is coming out (I too think that just a model is not a complete product without a panel, etc. - and I don't really want to buy the IronKnuckles DC-9 AND JetCity DC-9 just to get one "complete" set)?

So true...
I don't have the Iron Knuckles add-on here, so I fly with whatever I can find freeware. I am looking forward, though, to the SGA offering. :-)

The Jet city machines might have been reasonable at 10$ price.
As is I don't see a motiation to get them.
Iron Knuckles is a nice product (I think it's a bit obsolete by now, but it was good when I first got it) but it has only the dc9-30 models, and that's a bummer.
Perhaps when the SGA models are released I can pair the Iron knuckles panel to them.

nice. Why don't we have the DC-9-14 in the database?? Delta LAUNCHED it! we only have the -32 & -50. and DVA should get that SGA one. I'd make one except I failed using gmax. It's SO freaking complicated to make a model AND to have textures! lol.

I believe the only semi-decent freeware model of a DC-9 I've found was the DC-9-50, I've always wanted to get my hands on a nice DC-9-10 and DC-9-30

I think Stellan Hilmerby, a real DC-9 pilot, produces a superior panel for DC-9 to the Iron Knuckle one. Have a look at www.hilmerby.com

Yes, his panel is outstanding for those who like to do a 10 minute checklist prior to engine start (ULTRA REALISM =D) - all of the air switches, electric systems, hydraulics, etc. all have to be in the proper configuration for landing gear, flaps, engines, and many other functions to work properly. Best of all...it is free! One of the best freeware panels I've ever seen.

Delta Airlines was the DC-9-14's launch custemer. Delta ordered 15 of them in April 1963.

SGA is promising a release of the entire DC-9 line. There is a DC-9 installer waiting for this event. As well, the A310 has been lagging but I am about ready to get it out to folks to test.
Cheers!

The DC-9 Installer saw its first life this evening. I still have a number of tweaks to add to the installer and the panel, but I'm optimistic that something can be out soon.

I agree about Stellan Hilmerby's panel. I am a member of SAS as well, and we use it extensively. He even has the windows freeze up if you forget window heat! Very awesome panel, but you HAVE to use the checklist. You also pretty much have to go through his tutorial on his website, listed above. As real as it gets!
