I installed an Iomega dvd drive recently and when I first booted her up, she worked fine. This morning I went to turn on the computer and got the ASYS welcome screen, I usually never see this, and then I got a system boot error. It asked me to insall the system disk, which I did, but it was locked up. I did a hard boot, nothing. I unplugged the DVD driver, both ribbon and power, rebooted and it worked fine. I have it set up as the CDRW as the master and the DVD. Like I said, it booted fine last night after I installed it.
NOt sure what is going on. Any thoughts

Possibly a screwed up boot order in the BIOS?

Nope, bios is fine. It seems that once the cables are plugged in, even the ribbon, I lock on the motherboard welcome screen. I have to hold the power button down to get her to cut off. Could it be a power issue. I have a 400 watt power supply powering my CDRW, ATI 9800 and mobo.

Dave,
Set the DVD as the master and CDRW as the slave.
DVD always gets set to Master.

nope, that didn't work either. I will try setting both to CS and see what happens, I think I am too low on power to run it. When I get a freeze up on start up, adn reboot with DVD disconnected, I get a "CPU speed too low on last boot" message in my bios. PS might be going.
