Hi,
Does anybody knows what's the cost index used by real Delta on the 767?. Also does real Delta have any "rule" in which cases to use ECON CRZ and in which cases to use LRC CRZ?
Thanks

the normal cost index is 70. Some may use 80. It just sets your speed and descent in FMC. On long hauls they can go as low as 50. I personally find 70 to be the best fit. Its all based on Fuel Costs.

But those values are those that Delta use, or are values that you use? Because every airline in it's operating manual should have a value for their flights. For example, in LAN Chile, in the 767 on all flights you must use CI 40 and ECON CRZ, and that's the airline policy. What I ask is if Delta has that policy for their fleet (my interest is mainly the 767).
Thanks!

As long as it gets you there, there's objection to it!
Thanks Nicolas for the LAN data, I'm gonna try to find out what's SW (Southern Winds) cost index for Don Bosco (763ER)
Cheers!

Just to explain the above graph he wrote this:
Well, I won't tell you which airline, but...
CI is the acronym for cost index... it may look like CL (but a lowercase L since the site uses a sans serif font).
ECON is for minimum cost operations
SL1 is somewhere around two-thirds of the ECON for even better fuel economy when tailwinds or time-ahead-of-schedule allows
OT1 is used for headwinds or when behind schedule
MNF and MRG values are usually 0 for min fuel or max range

A trip I recently had the oppurtunity to fly on and observe the FMS preflight gave a cost index of 42 (Atlanta - Burbank, 757-232) which is slow.
Then we went to max range speed, which is slower, whilst we figured out where to stop for gas.

I have this same question now for the 757. Can anyone tell me what cost index figures Delta uses currently for their flights?
Regards.

Real World United Airlines uses 100 in all aircraft. [However, Captains may choose to play with it a bit]

i believe cost index is based on Fuel costs and changes on a regular basis and is decided between the Captain and the Dispatcher
