Hey,
I just switched to the 767 with the recent program split, but for some reason the counter for "flights needed to Captain promotion" in the pilot center has reset to zero. My question is, do all the 757 flights I flew before the switch still count towards promotion? If so, can somebody please update that information for me?
Thanks a lot,
Marc

I don't think we can reset that??? I wouldn't worry about it unless you were about to take the Captain's test and now the site won't let you. If so, let us know and maybe the IT guys can do something for you. If not, after 10 flights it'll all be cleared up anyway.

The site will still allow you to test regardless of number of flights flown. All flights in any 757 or 767 variant count towards promotion, although you'll need to notify us when you hit 10 flights between the 2 programs. Otherwise, we won't see you on the eligibility list until you fly 10 in that program.

Yech. This is one thing I forgot to plan for when we switched the programs. I'm probably not going to fix this in the current database, but for DVA2006 it should get straightened out. Matt - there may be a logistical hiccup with counting 757 and 767 flights towards the 10 legs for *BOTH* programs. I'll see if I can find a solution. If not, we may need to amend how we treat them.
Cheers!

OK, thanks guys. I'll take the test after I've got 10 total between the 757/767, so should I send an email to the chief pilot then or what?
Thanks,
Marc

Marc,
Until Luke get's it completely sorted out, I would suggest you fly only 767 (or only 757 flights, whichever program you're in) flights for your eligibility. This way there is no chance that the system can screw you. I don't know how it's built but why risk getting eligibility put off further by a glitch that won't let you pass the test until you've got 10 767 flights. Just my two cents worth.

One reason why we have never gone with a fully automated system of awarding ratings is so that the system can never "screw you". There's always a manual step to ensure that even if the data is off, we can work out some sort of a reasonable solution. If there are flights that aren't marked properly, just alert your Chief Pilot to this fact.
Cheers!

If statying with the 767 program go ahead and fly the 767 only since you are looking for a promotion within the program. This way it wont screw you up.

OK, serves me right. The original database schema for DVA2006 had provisions for a single PIREP counting towards promotion in multiple equipment types, but I eliminated this table since I figured "That'll never happen." In future, any time someone says "that'll never happen" I'm going to call my bookie to place a thousand bucks on that very event happenning in the near future. The higher odds, the better.
I'm going to update the DVA2006 could to provide for this. It should be a minor fix, and I'll update the migration code when I get home to properly copy over your PIREPs to reflect the "dual rating" nature of the 757/767.
Cheers!
