I finally got tired of waiting for a decent 777 panel for FS9, so I broke down and purchased PSS777 panel for FS2002. (Only ~$19.00 US)
Anyway, I haven't used FS2002 much since I loaded FS9 last summer. When I tried the PSS777 panel, my system locked up!!! I tried other stock airplanes (to see if it was a PSS problem), but the same thing happed. I then uninstalled FS2002 and reinstalled it again - with no other add-ons - just FS2002 - and when I loaded the stock 777 it locked up again.
The symptoms are that it takes a looong time to load the sim. Then everything seems ok for a while, then the screen will freeze. No keystrokes, mouse clicks, or flight control input seems to be recognized. (Or, at least, it takes a very very long time to be recognized) I can sometime break out to the task manager (this takes about 5 minutes!!!) and kill FS2002 to get to the OS. But usually I just have to reboot the system.
I'm peeved - I just want to fly a realistic 777. Never had any problems with FS2002 (or FS9) before. Anyone else seen this before?
System specs -
-Dell P4 2.66 Ghz
-512MB DRAM
- NVIDIA FX4200? 64MB (I know pretty lame, but I have an ATI Radeon 9800 128MB pro on order - and I haven't had problems with this Vid card before) I also have the latest drivers for this card.
-WinXP
Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
-Ralph

If all else fails Ralph delete the fs2002.cfg file. Works for me.

I use 2002 as well and I keep having the same problems. So I took the panel off and have shelved my 777 for the MD-11. But anyways, what's this about removing the .cfg file?

deleting the .cfg file is a last resort tactic. I removes the present configuration of the sim. Once you start FS is creates a new and fresh .cfg file. Sure you have to retweak some things, like resolution, joystick...etc, but it fixes most problems. If you are timid, you can always rename the .cfg to something like .oldcfgfile, that way if you dont like it you can reuse your old file.

Thanks David. I will have to try that. I recently reinstalled 2002 fresh on my system. I only put 1 scenery in, KLAX from simflyers and 1 panel, PMDG. When I tried to load the 737-700 in LA I got the darn "out of memory" message. I know SimFlyers in notoriously bad on frame rates, etc. but how in the heck do you run out of memory? It must be that darn glitch for WinME. Oh well, back to the basic ho-hum default scenery I guess.
