Can we obtain a rating for the DC-3, etc? Or can we fly them and submit the PIREP?

You should be rated in the DC-3/DC-6 if I'm not mistaken.

It's not listed in the pilot center. I got a nice long list, but no DC-3/6 or Constellation.

Try taking the f/o test for the program equal to it for an additional rating. If you pass you should be able to fly it then.

We're concurently trying to decide how to work the Vintage Prop Program ourselves. We're fairly sure of what catagories the aircraft will be assigned but since there is limited info at best on these aircraft, we're unsure of what the standards should be for testing, if it comes to that, or what documentation we can come up with for the aircraft.
The DC-3 will probably be the easiest to research since it is still in service, with many aircraft produced. The DC-6 and the Connie documentation is going to be a bit harder to come by. The same goes for the Comet and the Caravelle, but Delta won't have to worry about those two.
No one that I know of has any information on cockpit checklists, procedures, recommended flap settings or limitations, V-speeds, etc. In other words, we're going to have to test these aircraft by the seat of our pants and see what we can get away with, and what works and what doesn't. I've already experimented with the Caravelle and have a pretty good idea of it's flight characteristics for the installed model.
There are also some flight problems and avionics problems with at least two of the vintage aircraft that I'm personally aware of, and those issues need to be fixed or worked around in order to level the playing field on the aircraft and the pilots who fly them. The workload on these two aircraft is very high...higher than it should be for realism.

Michael, are you looking at the FSDzigns L-049 Connie, or another model? That L-049 without radar nose seems to be the best evolution of a freeware Connie so far.
I've flown the calclassic.com DC-6 and yes, the workload is pretty high; however, it's also a heck of a lot of fun to get it "right" and fly that old beast the way it should be flown, with slow power reductions, slow descents, step climbs, etc. Same thing with the DC-3, I have the MAAM DC-3 and it just plain rocks. When there's a Ship 41 repaint for it, I'll PIREP a few flights with it.

Not looking for anything really. I think they are in the fleet installers, but I haven't checked. The Caravelle has a serious rolling problem to the right that i can't trin out, and doesn't even have one axis of AP.
The B707-320 has no AP available nor nav radios, but it does hand-fly nicely. I haven'y had a chance to download the other's including the Connie, DC-3 or -6, and the others. I have a lot of work ahead of me.
What I meant by the "workload being high" was the fact that these aircraft are flyable but have issues they shouldn't have. It could be because I'm using 2K2, but I haven't head anything definate about that yet.
I like the hard ones too Lewis, but mostly on TO or landing. The Caravelle in 2k2 is a real PITA to fly, though it handles like a Cessna on approach...if you can counter the right roll. The B707 is a real Queen, but difficult at best to navigate.
