Hey folks,
I'm a new pilot here at DVA, and I just flew my first flight from KCVG to KATL in a 757-200, and I noticed whenever I throttle up this extreamly annoying siren/horn comes on, its horrible!!! Im wondering what that is and how to get rid of it...if any of you know.
Thanks,
Nick

Uh oh, somebody isn't using takeoff flaps. Put down flaps 5 or 15 and it won't yell at you anymore.

If you open up the FMC and hit the TAKEOFF option, and choose the flap setting (put the mouse over the flap number), the panel will automatically calculate your V-speeds and set your speedbugs. Make sure you go to the INIT page first and verify the correct weight.
Welcome Aboard.

Yes. It's by no means a fully functional FMC, it's really only good for calculating the speeds, but hey, it's free...
The Lonny Payne panel that comes with the 757's and 767's is really a great freeware panel.

Well, I did add flaps right before takeoff, but I only put them to 5 because I had only half the fuel (it was a short flight). I will try that FMC and then the Takeoff button thing though. Thanks so much!

I just went and tried it.
I opened the FMC panel, hit the takeoff option, then chose a flap setting of 5. But I couldnt find anywhere the INIT page to verify the weights. But even then when I tried to throttle up just sitting at the gate the siren went off.

He he Luke, I was just saying that to myself, he's got the parking brake set Anyway my friend with the Lonny Payne Panel , you can not throttle up that aircraft with the brake set. One, it is not a good idea to spool up the engines sitting at the gate LOL. Under the menu tab on the FMC you will see a performance tab click that tab, increase or decrease the ZFW to the specified weight of the A/C, Flaps 5,15 depending on the rwy length and weights. adjust your trim, set the flaps and start the spool to around forty percent N1with out the parking brake set, start to rolll and increase to 91% N1 and off you go. Hope it helps ya out

Uh oh,
I fixed it for takeoff, but now for cruise, or landing it does the same thing. I can find the approach tab on the FMC panel to change it, but what about for climb, cruise and decent?
Sorry to bring this up again,
Thanks,
Nick

It says Overspeed, but even then when I slow down from being overspeed it still goes off. Is there a way I can go to the sounds folder in FS2004 and just delete it? Or not..
thanks

huh, I've never had that problem before. Make sure you're following the checklists and displaying KIAS.
BTW about checklists, why does DVA almost always take them out, even when they're part of the package?? Lonny Payne includes them.

Can you tell me where to find the checklists for Lonny's panel? I'd like to have them as well.

Nick:
Go to spot view (external view on the airplane and zoom in to one of wings)
If your flaps are not moving you may have low hydraulic fluid.
Also, the flaps position indicator should be moving when you ask for flaps.
What happens is that when starting with COLD-DARCK cockpit (ie no engines running),
FS2004 invokes a hydraulic failure. This is an anomoly with this particular panel.
If the flaps are not moving, shut down FS9, open back up and select default Cessna aircraft.
Put the aircraft at same initial position you would for 757. (not on a TAXI way or RUNWAY if you are on VATSIM)
Turn on the engines (hit CLTR-E for shortcut.) make sure you are in the cockpit view.
Turn on fuel pump.
Next, go to Aircraft menu on top menu and select the 757-200.
You should see most of the "panels". Right click the ones you don't want until you you see
just the overhead and main instr panel. Check that all buttons are on that need to be.
(See Lonny's manual) Make sure your fuel and hydraulic pumps are on.
Select flaps 15. See if that helps.

I'm in the same boat here! I got all the bugs worked out and flew two flights, but let me tell ya what.
How do you auto land?
I tried to land but i have almost ZERO control authority when trying to roll left. What is the problem there, my landings are out right ugly cause of that and can't figure out how to fix it.
I'm running a Logitech Extreme 3d. I also tried to use the more accurate flight model but it crashes the set up and I fly a wicked little cessna instead of the 757. I'm lost.. need a bearing to the answer
